Quiet, B&B just outside Bala. Lovely cooked breakfast, which set us up for the day. From Llanfor you can easily reach both West & East destinations, e.g. (50mins to Portmeirion, 30mins to Llangollen). Just outside Bala found a couple of nice pubs for evening meals (Eagles Inn & Brintirion Inn). This was our first visit to Gwynedd, but wont be our last.

Went to stay for 2 nights including an Encuastic art course. Great value for money and nothing wasn't too much trouble. Mel and Mick are great hosts and treated us as part of the family with Mick cooking us lovely breakfasts - even asking us if we would like to eat outside on our last morning. Rooms were spacious and decorated with some of Mel's art work. The course on Saturday was tailored to the 2 of us - very relaxed in her garden studio. We had lots of fun and learnt plenty of techniques to take away with us. It was great value for money and I would recommend it to any budding artist. Would definately book again if visiting the area or wanting to learn more advance techniques in encuastic. Thank you Mel and Mick.

Excellent stay over Easter weekend. Mel made us tea and cakes on arrival, the room was very attractive and comfortable. Breakfast was amazing and Mel was flexible enough to accommodate us even though we were fairly late down for breakfast. I would happily stay here again if visiting this area. The only criticism I would make is that the plumbing is v noisy which did lead to being woken in the night a couple of times.

Thank you for the feedback on the plumbing issue! We have now had this fixed - we had water hammer when you stayed. Thanks for raising our awareness on this issue. Look forward to welcoming you back soon. All best wishes Mel & Mick

Friendliest and coziest B&B ever. Fantastic breakfast. Very homely and caring hosts. Good location...might be a bit tricky to find (if its really dark without a GPS). I was 36 weeks pregnant, and felt very very comfortable. Cannot fault this B&B for anything.

Want to come back to Snowdonia just to stay a couple of days here :)

What a fantastic place! We were treated like one of the family. Lovely cottage, very comfy bed. Tea and cake when we arrived, which we had in the beautifull garden. Then all you could eat for breakfast! What more could you ask for.
Highly recommend!

To put it simply, you just can not fault Cysgod y Coed if you need to stay anywhere in this area. We stayed in the self catering cottage for 2 nights and was very warmly greeted by Mel upon our arrival. Mel is an excellent host and obviously an excellent artist too with some of her work displayed in the cottage. The cottage itself was very clean and contempary modern with everything you could need for your stay, being two nights or two weeks. It has a fully equipped kitchen, dining and lounge area with TV, freesat and even a surround sound system. The bedroom again is lovely with plenty of space and a en-suite bathroom that wouldnt look out of place in any top city hotel. Outside there is a very nice garden with decking and seating area should you be able to enjoy Cysgod y Coed in the summer. We will definately be going back next time we are in Snowdonia - why stay anywhere else?
