The Ballaghbeama Gap is a winding road that starts at R568 (the road that connects Sneem to Moll's Gap), to Glencar and beyond. We used it as a faster way to get from Sneem to Killorglin.
The road is as wide as an American driveway, and you have to be on the lookout for any cars around any curve and be prepared to back up, if need be.
With that said, the road is very very lightly traveled. We encountered two cars during the entire journey. There is one point where you are actually in the Gap with mountains towering on either side of you. There is a place to move to the side of the road, get out and just take it all in!! Pictures cannot do this place justice. The majesty of Ireland at its best.
