“Enchanting locale, spacious room and gourmet food!”
Reviewed July 8, 2013 via mobile

The inn is sited on a beautiful old farm with a tree covered lane to greet you. Old stone outbuildings covered in moss and a wildflower garden at the door are picturesque. The room was immense with 3 beds and lots of floor and storage space. The bath was large too. The view from the windows was beautiful with flowers, old stone walls and wandering cats. Anne and Paul are generous hosts. They picked us up at Peg's Shop after our long day's walk and dropped us off farther along to start our walk the next day. The food was sublime in both flavor and presentation. The portions were more than generous. Paul is an expert on local fishing if this is your passion. Beautiful place, great food, lovely people.

Couldn't believe this little gem. Heard about it from a fellow angler who told me the owner knows his stuff about where to fish and it turns out he does! Paul Harris used to be the Angling advisor for the Irish Tourist Board some years back so if you stay here with the intention to fish then you won't be disappointed. B&B isn't how I'd describe this little hideaway. All the mod cons and bathrooms big enough to swing a cat in.

I'd been admiring the Dromagowlane House for months before our trip. After booking our 3 night stay I was looking forward to going here the most during our 2 week trip. I was not disappointed! The house is beautiful! Anne and Paul are such wonderful people. Anne is a stellar chef! Her breakfasts were incredible and so are her dinners! Make sure you stay in for dinner at least one night. Paul is the nicest and funniest guy you could ask for to run a B&B. He helped us figure out what we should do during out stay and everything he suggested was perfect. Our room was great and the farm is really neat to explore with the pigs, sheep and cats! The location is perfect for exploring the Beara Peninsula which is the most beautiful place I've ever been. I could not recommend this B&B more! It was everything we had hoped for and more!

Five of us were cycling around the Beara peninsula on a wet and very windy day. After a long day in the saddle battling with headwinds and mountain passes, the comfort and welcome of Dromagowlane House was a delight. The rooms were spacious and well equipped (our bathroom was bigger than some bedrooms we've stayed in), the hosts were friendly and helpful and the food was excellent. We had pre-ordered dinner (a menu had been emailed in advance) and were served warming, well-cooked comfort food (soft, melting lamb shanks) with a range of starters and desserts that were all thoroughly enjoyed. The beds were very comfy and the bathrooms equipped with powerful showers, plenty of towels and a range of quality products. Breakfast the next morning was a fantastic fry-up featuring their own thick-cut bacon. As we were leaving, Anne advised us on where to get good quality picnic ingredients and we hopped back on the bikes feeling fed and fortified for the road ahead. The sun even came out. Dromagowlane House is a five-star stop on the Beara peninsula and only five minutes' walk from a pub. We enjoyed our stay immensely.

Room Tip: If you are in a group, they have rooms with a number of beds. One of our rooms had two doubles, a si...

Doing the beara-way, we reached Adrigole "city-center" (a small shop) in the evening. Not having planned where too stay, we asked the shop-owner for an idea. She advised us to call Dromagowlane, so we did. The owner of Dromgowlanes (Anne) was even so friendly to pick us up at the shop!! So we reached a lovely hidden place with all the comfort, one can ask for (excellent shower, big, warm and clean rooms and beds, TV and DVD,...), and an delicious breakfast with homemade sausages, bacon, eggs, bread and jam. And the next day, lovely Anne even got us back to the beara-way. Thank you very very much for everything!!

What a wonderful find in the woods, just off the main road near Glengarriff. Ann was full of good information about the area including making sure we knew about the cable car that we were interested in. She looked a the map with us and helped us plan our day. Satilite TV with one of our favorite shows was a bonus! Food was excellent and rooms were spacious. Bathrooms were large and had nice soft comfy towels. Wonderful, peaceful area.

Having stayed in Adrigole on a farm as a small chiId I chose Dromagowlane when I spotted the description “ house dates back to the late 1700s ” while searching the area. The rates were very reasonable so we booked to stay for three nights. I emailed ahead to warn that I was a vegetarian and that we planned eating there one night of the three. The previous year we had stayed in Cork for a few days and I had been offered pasta in a tomato sauce with vegetables everywhere I went so wanted to avoid that again. “No problem” came the reply.
We arrived in the afternoon and were shown our room and served tea/ coffee (real coffee, not instant) and a delicious slice of homemade cake. Anne welcomed us and gave us all the information on the surrounding area. There were maps available and tourist guides to the area.
Our room was en suite, clean and well supplied with tea, coffee and biscuits. We could see the vegetable garden from our room. All food Anne and Paul serves comes from their own farm or from the local area. Breakfast was superb. I had the rare treat of a fried egg cooked to perfection – white cooked, yolk runny. My husband went for the omelette, which was light and fluffy. Every other guest to whom we spoke praised the choice and cooking of the breakfasts there.
We had gone to Castletownbere to dinner on our first night. My available option had been... pasta bake.. So I chose the mushroom risotto for our dinner at Drumagowlane House, while my husband went for the catch of the day (to be confirmed!). You provide your own wine or drink of choice and they are happy to chill for you. Dinner was sublime. Everything bursting with flavour and perfectly cooked. The two other guests having dinner were also praising their food (steaks I think). We enjoyed the dinner so much (3 courses currently €25 – a total bargain) that we decided not to bother looking elsewhere the next night and ate there again. Again, we had a choice of dishes with consideration given to the choice of dishes available and my foibles.
The scenery of the area is justifiably famous and needs no description but I feel this B&B is the jewel in the crown of guest houses in the area. We will definitely be returning and will recommend to anyone willing to listen!
