The hostel is great value for money, with basic hostel accommodation (bunk beds in bunglows). We were lucky and got a whole bungalow to ourselves which was great (we were a group of 4). Good breakfast with lovely bread, cheese, meats and cereals. There is onsite parking. Larochette is really lovely with some nice walks and, of course, the castle. The only downside to the hostel is that they don't have a self-catering kitchen. I would definitely recommend staying here if you are looking for a budget option in Luxembourg

Room tip: Note that whilst linen for the beds are provided you need to bring your own towels

Dear,

thank you very much for visiting Luxembourg and choosing to stay with us in Larochette. We are flattered by your kind words and thrilled to hear that you had a nice time over here! We do and try and arrange that small groups of people have some sort of area -- in your case a bungalow -- to themselves, so we're glad to hear that liked and appreciated it.
It's great that you made use of the nice walks in the area as the network of hiking (and cycling) trails in the region is something we're very proud of. The Mullerthal region has quite a lot to offer when it comes to outdoor activities!
Our apologies for not having a self-catering kitchen. We actually used to have one, but decided to replace it with an on-site restaurant as, unfortunately, not all guests were as considerate with its usage as one would hope for. We really hope it wasn't too much of an inconvenience for you and thank you for your overall recommendation!

Good luck and all the best on your trip through Europe and hopefully see you again one day!

Kind regards from Luxembourg

I think 'average' is a slightly harsh word to use. I would have rated this hostel 'good'. The only thing stopping me from rating it 'very good' is that when we arrived there was no one on reception when there should have been at the time (we arrived after 17:00) and we were unsure of what to do. Luckily someone came out from the kitchen to help us. His service was friendly. The same thing happened when we tried to check out as well!
The hostel is in a beautiful location and it is really peaceful. It is very close to the castle and a walking trail. I am really glad we decided to stop in Larochette, instead of Luxembourg City as it happened to be my favourite place on the holiday.

Dear treewellie,

thank you for staying with us and taking the time to leave us some flattering feedback.

We're over the moon to hear that Larochette turned out to be your favourite place of the holiday. It really is a very nice corner of the country, and we're glad to hear you made use of the network of hiking trails, which we are rather proud of in the region.
From time to time the kitchen staff helps out at the reception, which would explain why the staff member came from the kitchen to help you out. It's been working out well for us and we haven't experienced any problems as a consequence, so we hope it wasn't an inconvenience for you. Either way, we thank you for pointing it out as it's always good to get a neutral opinion.

Hope you had a safe trip back and wishing you all the best on your future trips, which hopefully lead you back to Luxembourg some day. :-)

We stop there for the night with my wife while walking the tour 2 of the mullerthal trail. It was the perfect hostel stop:

-good price
-well located (nearby a supermarket and a few restaurants)
-rooms are clean, beds confortable
-quiet (not a party hostel at all)

really recommended.

We stayed in Youth Hostel Larochette for one night on our hiking trip through Luxembourg. The late check-in time (17.00) might have been a bit unhandy but since we arrived in the afternoon after our hike, this was not a huge concern. The hostel was very clean and the room was spacious and comfortable (we were booked in a two bed dorm which was a nice surprise as we thought we would be staying in a bigger dorm). The hostel was very quiet and there were not a lot of guests around while we were there, so it felt very peaceful. Be aware that there are no towels available for rent and there is no kitchen for common use. The breakfast included was sufficient though, and there is a supermarket very close by.

Dear Line,

great to hear that you enjoyed your stay in Larochette during your hiking trip through the country. As the hostel is well connected to all the main hiking trails in the area, one of its main purposes is indeed to serve as a quiet and relaxing destination for hikers and cyclists, so I'm happy to hear it completely fulfilled its purpose.

I'm sorry we were out of towels when you were there. That shouldn't have happened and we'll make sure it won't happen again.

Thank you for your kind review and good luck on all your future hikes!

A clean, good looking hostel in beautiful Lucxemburg. Not a real hostel though, there was no kitchen/fridge to use. Very unhandy with warm weather and drinks..

The staff wasnot very friendly. There was no real welcome and in the evening there was a private party in the living room. We sat in the kitchen, but at 2300 we were told we had to go outsite (cold) or to our room.

The breakfast was ok.

Not the place if you are hoping to meet more (young) people.
