This is a brilliant find off the main road. Worth the short trip down the narrow lane.
The gardens/lawns are lovely, with a riverside setting. Plenty of outside seating. Perfect on a sunny summer's day.
The food is excellent. Good value, and lots of choices.
The service is prompt and friendly. We've been to this establishment several times and it's consistently good.
The staff are friendly and welcoming.

This place is great in the summer for a drink and a meal outside with the wonderful setting by the river. In the winter it has a lovely restaurant overlooking the gardens. The food is average pub fare well done

Horrible restaurant, like being in canteen, landlady rude, food very poor all round, eg, gambas tiger prawns were the size of maggots! . NOT RECOMMENDED.

The Old Fisherman is a place where you know what you're going to get before you arrive. It's not special, apart from the fact that it has the biggest beer garden of any pub I've been to. And the fact that the restaurant menu is very different from the outdoor menu seems a bit odd (so I can't have a steak in the garden?)

When the sun shines the place is always packed, well maintained play area, good service, friendly staff, decent ale. Nice country pub, and Midsommer Murders was once filmed here

At best, this restaurant is very over-priced for very sub-standard food and service.

Went here with friends and my children, in December.

My meal, and my friends meals were very average, nothing to complain about as such, but nothing to justify the prices either.

My young daughter on the other hand, had a chicken burger. It was very pink in the middle!
Unfortunately she had eaten round the edges first (outside obviously being cooler), so we didnt even realise until she got to the middle.
In my mind that is completely unforgiveable.

Showed the waitress the the pink chicken and got a reply that vaguely resembled an apology. Spoke to the manager as we left, and got nothing at all.

Will definitely not be going back!
