We planned and booked our stay several weeks prior to our trip. We wanted to have 2 nights but they were only able to offer 1 night, which did not seem to be a problem, they suggested it. We were excited about staying in a 5 star B&B and looking forward to being looked after. Prior to our arrival we had several occasions to correspond, each time we felt that we were being nuisance. We waited over two weeks and never received a confirmation either by e-mail or by post. We chased up as we wanted to ensure we were booked in. The response once again from the owner was neither friendly nor apologetic for not confirming. We started having doubts because we were being made to feel unwelcome but did not change our booking. We arrived in the pouring rain only to be berated by the owner for not parking as well as we might have, no greeting first, no welcome just a telling off. He did not once introduce himself; he had no idea who we were. Generally throughout our short stay the owner was unwelcoming, unhelpful, and arrogant. When we could not get a phone signal, (to make a local call to our friends) he was totally unhelpful and unhappy to be disturbed. He had a rude manner at breakfast time, mean with the breakfast; he seemed to have better things to do than look after us, he could not make polite conversation. No more juice offered or available. The room was lovely, clean and well furnished, but very, very warm and you could not easily open the window (would not have dared ask for help. They did not refresh our tea tray when they came to make up the room for the night. We were never once asked how our journey was, how our room was, if we slept well, nothing, he was just not interested. We could not recommend this “5” star hotel ; how they achieved a special “5” star service commendations we have no idea. We have had better service in much lesser places! At least a handful of other guests have had a more positive experience than we have.
