“Would definitely return to this very well run hotel!”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed May 3, 2010

17 friends and family stayed at this hotel for a surprise birthday party. All the staff were extremely helpful and friendly and went out of their way to make our stay enjoyable. Our room was very comfortable and clean with superb views of Ben Nevis. The hotel is situated next to the Caledonian Canal and Neptune's Steps and we all enjoyed early morning strolls along the tow path and watching the boats going through the steps. The food was good, especially the cooked breakfast which set us up for the day. A great hotel in a beautiful area, we will definitely return.

This really is a good hotel. We had room 25 which had breathtaking views of the loch, the canal and Ben Nevis. The staff still seem to run around a lot, a fact I noted on a previous visit. You will see girls charging about with bar meals. The hotel has been extended in the last couple of years- but instead of the grey, “East Berlin” type of extension you so often sadly see on Scottish hotels, they have added an extension which looks really good and fits in with the surrounding area. Full marks for that. The room we stayed in was world class and as good as anything you’d get in London, Paris, San Francisco or whatever. It was a very comfortable stay. They have really “raised their game” in the last couple of years. Finally, Banavie is outside of Fort William and if you are familiar with Fort William at all you will immediately recognise the advantage of this. I’d recommend “The Moorings” to anyone.

We had spent a lovely night here. It ticks all the boxes- good food, comfortable room, good location, friendly staff. No complaints what so ever.

We stayed at the Moorings for three nights. We had not booked in advance so had a small room at the front. In future we would like one of the rooms with a view of Ben Nevis, spectacular. Good bed, comfortable room. Wonderful location. Friendly helpful staff. Good food in bar and restaurant. Good breakfast cooked to order. Left something behind when we departed which was posted to us soon afterwards. Easy communication through email.

I stay in this hotel on a regular basis for work and it is a really lovely hotel. The rooms are tastefully decorated and the food is always good. It's about three miles outside of Fort William itself so it doesn't take too long to get into town. The staff are always friendly, the hotel has free wi-fi and they do good packed lunches!!

My Husband and I decided to get a last minute weekend break away.

We have stayed in Fort William a number of times but this was the first in the Moorings. The Hotel had a special offer on accommodation so we thought we would give this hotel a try and we were not disappointed.

Driving up to the hotel from the front looks like a small inn but is much larger beautifully decorated then from first impression,

On arrival we were given a very warm welcome and shown to our rooms. The room was lovely and large, with stunning views of the Canal and Mountains. The rooms had little extras that you expect from 5 / 4 star hotels Including complimentary bottled water and house coats. The hotel had free wi fi through the hotel which my husband could check his work emails.

We ate in the Bar which was busy but had no problem getting a table and the food was excellent. I ordered the haddock and chips which came with homemade chips and my husband ordered the beef stroganoff which was quite expensive but he really enjoyed it.
I had no room for a pudding but my husband order the sundae which the kind waitress gave me a extra spoon to share.
In the morning Breakfast was superb. Awaiting your cooked breakfast you have the buffet table with choices of pasties, yogurts, fresh fruit and a cooked breakfast

The next time we return to Fort William the Moorings will be our first choice in future

Don't hesitate!
My partner and I did our usual and decided on a night away at the very last minute. I chose The Moorings based on price and location - I knew nothing of the place.
We both thoroughly enjoyed our stay and will definitely return next time we're in Fort William. The staff couldn't have been nicer, our bags were carried to our room, the spec was outstanding for 3 star, everything was immaculate and there was real attention to detail. We slept well and went down to an excellent breakfast. Instead of the either-or approach you often get between cooked or cold, you could help yourself to cereal, juice, fruit, yoghurts, croissants, etc, etc and have a cooked breakfast! The place is fab.
