The setting was fantastic at Neptune's Staircase with views of Ben Nevis, Fort William and Caledonian Canal.. Hotel clean and food good, although cooked breakfast could have been better. The staff were warm and engaging. Not too many stairs after climbing Ben Nevis either!

Dear David C,

Thank you for writing us a review of your stay. We hope you had a lovely day climbing Ben Nevis and you were able to enjoy the spectacular views along the way. It is great that you found the hotel to be clean and you could enjoy the views that we have here right on our doorstep. Our breakfast is cooked with fresh ingredients and to order so it is disappointing to hear that it was completely to your satisfaction. If you would like to give us more information on this so we can look into it and make sure it doesn't happen again, then please get in touch via reservations@moorings-fortwilliam.co.uk.

Best wishes, The Moorings Hotel

Stayed for one night and location is lovely. Hotel room is very good, with views of Ben Nevis, nice ensuite bathroom. Pre booked and paid for meal in restaurant. When we booked in the receptionist said there was a sixtieth birthday that night so we could choose from anything on a combined bar/restaurant menu.
Had a really delicious meal, excellent seafood finished meal about 9.00pm went for a stroll and then went back to our room about 10.00pm.
The noise that hit us on entering the room was awful. we turned the TV on and couldn't hear it because of the bass coming from the band playing below.
Put up with it for about 30mins went to reception to ask when the party was due to finish and was told midnight!! Not happy as no mention of changing rooms. At 11.00pm the receptionist called to suggest we changed to another room, but by this time we were already in bed. Really bad nights sleep which could have easily been avoided. Good breakfast with lots of choice. When we checked out the receptionist asked if we had slept well and when told about the noise she offered 10% off the bill which we begrudgingly accepted. Later in the day checked the final invoice to find that the we had not only paid for the evening meal in advance but had been charged an additional £70+ for the evening meal!! Needless to say not impressed. A further phone call rectified the situation but all in all a lovely hotel let down by attention to detail and forward planning. Why put guests in a room that suffers from noise problems when a function is being held when there were quieter rooms available???

Room Tip: Make sure you are not in room 17 if there is a function in the dining room area.

Dear sue_rogers25,

Thank you for taking the time to write us a review. It is wonderful to hear that you enjoyed your meal in our Restaurant and that you could appreciate our excellent views from your room. We are extremely sorry that you had to experience the noise from the function that we had on the evening you stayed. It is our policy to inform our guests at the time of booking if we have a function which could potentially be noisy, in order for them to find an alternative if they do not think they would still like to stay with us. I will look into why you were not informed of this on booking, and only at check in. Again I am very sorry that you were not offered another room at an earlier time. Apologies for the mix up with your bill, which I understand has been rectified now, I will pass all of this on to our Head Receptionist so that this situation can be learned from and hopefully the chances of it reoccurring in the future can be minimised. It would be wonderful to have you back for a stay at another time, when we are not hosting a function, so that you can fully appreciate a stay with us.

Best Wishes, The Moorings Hotel

We stayed at The Moorings for 4 nights and it was really lovely the staff were very helpful, and happy to help, the food was good, and I discovered a taste for black pudding and Haggis both of which I'm going to take home and cook, love Fort William itself and the hotel is situated with great views.. Would definitely stay here again if we come up here again.

Stayed at the Moorings for two nights. We booked a summer break with the hotel direct. This included dinner 1st night and a picnic lunch for the 2nd day. The dinner was lovely and well served. The picnic had a choice of sandwich filling and a nice selection of goodies in a picnic backpack to take on our train trip to Malliag the next day. All the staff were friendly and we were shown to our room on our arrival. The room looked onto the road at the front of the hotel with views of Ben Nevis to the side. The room was clean and comfortable with a well stocked toiletries and tea and coffee supplies. In all a lovely stay and would recommend a stay at the Moorings.

We spent two nights at the Moorings Hotel. The staff were welcoming and we were shown to our room, which does not happen very often. The room was spotless and there was everything included for example, toothpaste, shaving razor, sewing kit and slippers. All wrapped hygienically. From our window we had a view of Ben Nevis and behind the hotel are the eight locks of Neptune's Staircase. We ate in the restaurant on both nights and the meals were excellent.Would definitely stay there again.

Stayed at a The Moorings for 2 nights when climbing Ben Nevis. We thought the hotel was superb and in an ideal location. As we were travelling with our dog we were allocated a standard room but we couldn't fault it, the room was spotless and well equipped. We ate in the restaurant both nights as the food was excellent, breakfast was also good. The staff at the hotel were very friendly and very helpful nothing was a problem. Will definitely stay here again.

Many thanks for taking the time to write us a review. We hope you enjoyed climbing Ben Nevis and had some decent weather for it. We do try and accommodate those travelling with their dogs and have certain standard bedrooms which we allow them in. Hopefully your dog found their bed to be comfy and enjoyed the dog treats. We are looking forward to seeing you back here sometime in the future.
