“Brilliant place to stay”

Just returned from our second trip to Kolforsen - we liked it so much last summer we just had to go back. Although you are off the beaten track with all the beauty and tranquillity that goes with that - the cottage still has everything you could possibly need. Ockelbo is a short drive away where you can stock up - we even cycled there through the forest one day.

There are numerous things to do in the area or you can just cycle down to the lake and fish or take a boat out or pick berries in the forest and have a BBQ at the beach. This year we tried field archery for the first time which was arranged by Agneta and orienteering as well as visiting the beach at Hudiksvall and the various villages on the coast. Each cottage has a very useful folder giving information on the area and loads of suggestions for places to visit and things to do. The owners could not be more helpful and nothing is too much trouble for them. This place is guaranteed to revitalise you.

Basically you can be as active or inactive as you want

Management Response

Your review epitomises what we stand for - returning guests makes up an increasing part of our business; free inclusion of bikes, boat, canoe, games, fishing gear; the possibility to be active or non-active and still enjoy it; proper information to make the stay even more enjoyable (we now have our own website that gives even more information).

“Idyllic holiday”

We booked the smaller cottage at Kolforsen as we are a family with boys aged 19 and 22 and we enjoy outdoor activities.
The holiday gave us everything we could have expected and more besides.
The owners of the cottage who live nearby could not have been more friendly and helpful.
The cottage was modern clean and comfortable.
The equipment was amazing - a huge collection of stuff was available for us to use and there was never a dull moment.
There were lots of good books, DVDs and videos in English.
The bike shed had plenty of bikes for everyone, so it was always easy to nip down to the beach for a swim in the lake.
There was fishing equipment. oars for the rowing boat and paddles for the canoe.
Although the exchange rate was not good this summer and food was more expensive then in England, the supermarkets in Okelbo offered a good range at reasonable prices and outdoor activities such as a day's canoe hire for 5 of us from a local campsite, and a session of archery in the forest were much cheaper than they would have been in England.
The bbq hut was amazing, and although the weather was quite warm we ate there every night because it was such good fun.
We were sorry to leave and we would all go back here for another holiday.
