Our week in a cottage on Exuma had been really relaxing and totally chilled-out. When we turned up at Dive Exuma to look around they explained I could do the Discover SCUBA Experience, then go out to a reef on an accompanied dive; we made the arrangements there and then.

On the day, Tamara got the short straw and took me through the DSD, then out to the reef with Gavin for my 1-tank dive, close up and personal with a Lion Fish, Spanish Lobster, a thousand brilliantly coloured small fish and other coral-life organisms, as well as a Snapper that was too far away to grab.. Thanks again Tamara, brilliant!

We were really well looked-after, the arrangements and equipment were fully professional, excellent in every way. We recommend Dive Exuma (and if you want a cottage on the island, go google Exuma Blue - you won't be disappointed there either)

11/2008 - Dive Exuma is under new management, so you can ignore all of the bad reviews, as those are from the previous management (who really did a poor job from what I've heard).

The new folks are all british, and who doesn't love an an english accent? No one, that's who.

To be serious, they have really done a bang up job for having just taken over a failing dive company. They have purchased a lot of new gear, so if you have to rent you will have some great gear to use. Andy is their instructor, and teaches classes for beginners and advanced users alike (and can really put away the chicken wings). Lex and Chantel run the shop and really know their stuff. You have Robbie running the boat, and if you are lucky you'll have Tamara take you on your dive. Tamara worked for the previous owner (don't hold it against her) so has been on a lot of these dives, and knows her way around. Everyone knows something about diving, so don't be shy to ask questions if you are new to diving. They are really friendly.

They currently have about 7 dive sites, and are looking for more, so expect a good variety when you go out. They have a 40 foot boat, so getting out through the breakwater is no problem.

I took two dives. The first was to the blue hole. If you haven't done an ocean blue hole before, this is really worth it. It was about 85 feet down that we went (into the cave slightly), and there is a great variety of fish. This was near Stocking Island.

The second dive was to the tug boat, and I really loved this one. About 75 max depth, there is a great variety of fish life here. You have all the wreck fish and critters, and some open ocean fish swimming around like barracuda. If you're lucky you'll spy the monster moary eel and some nurse sharks, and maybe a lionfish or two. The water is crystal clear, so if you do underwater photography, this is a great place to do it.

So thanks a lot you guys, I had a great time. Time to practice my dance moves. I hope to visit you again soon.

me and my wife travelled to great exuma in october for 5 days for our honeymoon. we decided to take up some diving while we were there and were very pleased we did.
After reading a bad review on trip adviser we felt we needed to get some postive attention to the diving people out there.

we were unsure when we wanted to dive and how many dives we wanted to do as we did not want this taking over the real reason we came to exuma. after talking to a member of staff at the dive shop they made the decision very easy, they were very helpful, honest and understanding and suggested a few options we had as the weather had been up and down and some of there dive sites would not have a great deal of visabilty due to the surge in water.

we did decide to dive in the morning for a 2 tank dive, and enjoyed the whole time. a taxi was arranged to collect us, took us straight to the shop, and what a surprise when we arrived, a freindly bunch of people all in matching dive exuma t-shirts.

we were helped with all the equipment needed, briefed about the sites we were visiting (reef & wreck), and throughly looked after, and my wife was happy with her dive exuma t-shirt she bought.

we did find out that the shop had been taken over by new people in july this year, and i wish all the new staff and the new owner the very best of luck in there new adventure, because if they treat all there customers the way they treated us then they are in for a very busy season.

good luck guys and thanks for making our honeymoon something to remember, and we hope to visit exuma again.

Simply put, don't waste your time, air or money. After being told by a dive friend that Grand Exuma was the best diving anywhere (a bold statement). I have experienced diving the Great Barrier Reef, the Caymans, Cozumel to name a few.

My first red flag was the fact that the Fours Seasons would not work with them, based on their expereince. Being the optimist, I called the shop and booked the dive.

The dive shop's business card promotes the Blue Holes, wall diving and "lush coral reefs". I called to book a 2 tank dive and asked about going to the Blue Holes (a must see from what I have gathered). The shop owner was not sure, but said we would at least get in some reef dives.

Our 2 tank $175us dive was a complete waste of money. The "reefs" were washed out, little or no see life (1 lion fish and 2 barracudas that looked completely bored!). On top of that, I still had 1000lbs and 1300lbs of air left. To add insult to injury, we got back to shore 45 minutes early.

My suggestion, find a local with a boat, rent the tanks and go explore. A blind diver would have found more interesting spots.
