We spent 5 weeks at Hideaways at Palm Bay and loved every minute of it.

Great people, wonderful facilities, perfect location.

You can walk to the Fish Fry, Jolly Hall Beach or into George Town. Or take the free shuttle into George Town and the town harbour to go to Stocking Island. This is a big plus, especially if you’re into doing something each day and watched your costs.

You absolutely do not need to rent a car every day. You can see the whole island via car in 1.5 days. You can rent a car from across the street.

We did rent a scooter twice in town. (took the shuttle in and back) After all we were there a long time and needed to go back to Santana’s. We also rented a car for one day to take visiting friends up and down the island (and to visit Santana’s .....again).

Other locations are either missing something or too far away from activities requiring a rental car or a taxi for each trip.

The bottom line is that this location is central, has all the amenities, the rental units are in good shape and the people working there are great.

We thought we were getting a bungalow next to the room but we got a suite across the road; this turned out to not be a problem at all. Nice facility with friendly, helpful staff situated on a beautiful beach. Only minutes by car to George Town and "The Shacks" where a variety of local foods are available. Walking distance to other restaurants and with the Splash Bar and Restaurant on-site you can get away easily without needing a car.

Room Tip: Ask for poolside if the option exists but the suites are great too.

My wife and I, very simply, had a wonderful time during our stay at Hideaways at Palm Bay. We want the management and staff to know how special you made us feel. Everything they did for us, from letting us informed about the pre-arrival grocery shopping, driving and picking us up to and from Gerorge Town with their complimentary shuttle, the staff who eagerly helped us in one way or another, from every information we want to know, will long be remembered by us.

In fairness to Splash restaurant, we find the food okay and deliciously good.Kudos to Tiny and Anita for their wonderful service.

Thank you for the one of the loveliest weeklong vacation we have ever spent. We will definitely comeback and stay again in this hotel.

We visited Exuma for the first time with our two boys (4 and 18 mos) and stayed at Hideaways. Everyone at this hotel is friendly and accommodating. The villas are perfect, clean and comfortable, we stayed in #9. We rarely went into the pool and spent most of our time at the beach, the water is shallow and were able to walk out quite far. The brand new paddle boats are a great addition as we used them a few times. Great hotel to stay with kids if able go check out the other beach close to the hotel which is amazing.
Food wise we had our breakfasts at splash which is the bar/grill at hideaways, it was okay. We had most of our lunches and dinners at Augusta Bay, Lattitude and the Fish Fry. Augusta bay is a 2 min walk next door as well as Lattitude, they are a little pricey but food is pretty good. The lunch conch burger at Augusta bay is great! The fish fry is the place to eat, local small restaurants with great food. Da out deck has amazing angus steaks and fish and it's half the price of Augusta Bay and Lattitude. The Poor mans kitchen is also good.

Our only challenge was getting to the fish fry, it's only a 5-7 min walk from hideaways but very difficult with a double stroller as there is no sidewalk and the side of the road is rough, we managed but take a flash light at night so cars see you walking as its quite dark. The delicious food and great people make the rough walk worthwhile.

We absolutely loved Exuma, yes we did find it challenging at times with our baby as we did not do all the tours but, the place and people are so wonderful that you can't help but just start not making a big deal of anything. The people in this island really make the difference, go now before it starts to get crazy busy.

We arrived in the later part of the evening to be greeted by a not so friendly staff. We realized that it was probably because the town shuts down at 6 and 9 was pushing to limit. We are a family of five expecting the hotel to accommodate with extra linens. No luck. We made due and informed the front desk the following morning that we would be needing extra linens and a towel. Within 30 minutes we had housekeeping at our door with our extra linens. The next 6 days were great. It's as if the one person working that day we arrived was removed and replaced by the most friendliest of staff. Granted we are on island time, we quickly shifted into low gear. Our excursions off the island, and around town were pleasant and we were always given a lesson on the island's history. We stayed up the hill which was quiet and a bit more private, although our friends stayed in two of the beach front properties we found them to be just as nice. Our room was comfortable, lacking a bit in everyday necessities like a good set of pots and pans, which would have been nice since we cooked some of our meals in our room. Beverly (possibly the hotel manager) was most helpful in planning a last minute trip to Santana's Restaurant, the most southern point in Little Exuma, a trip worth taking. Roland our taxi/tour guide took us to the Tropic of Cancer Beach, something we would have never found. We enjoyed the company of Anita the hotel's restaurant server & bartender and Kellie our shuttle driver. Take a boat trip north to see all the cayes, The Thunderball Grotto, and enjoy lunch. Skip the tour of the rich and famous if that doesn't appeal to you. Rent your boats from Mimms if you prefer driving your own and make sure to stop in for some dancing at Fast Eddie's. And if you're staying at the Hideaway make sure to walk next door and visit Neville and his wife at Latitudes. Great drinks and delicious food, although a bit pricey. And if you care to Kayak they will arrange and guide you through a tour of the cayes.
In all we enjoyed Exuma and will return to relax and take in all that this little island has to offer. Happy Vacation!

Room Tip: 2nd floor Rooms up on the hill have a better view of the ocean, rooms on the hill are quieter although it's a tiny trek to the front office..nothing unbearable.
