“Fabulous Food”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed July 30, 2013

Mrs Evans has a unique culinary gift of transforming "ordinary" dishes into memorable meals by adding the lightest touches here and there to the finest quality ingredients. It is a nightly delight to be "spoilt for choice" in the certain knowledge that whatever one selects will be delicious. Breakfasts are just the same. Accommodation is comfortable, well equipped and realistically priced.

Georgian house set in peaceful country setting with cows and horses grazing in a field nearby. Interior furnished in keeping with period. Sitting room is very comfortable and tastefully furnished with an honesty bar to help you relax before dinner. The meals were excellent. For breakfast the wide range of fresh fruit and the thick slices of Pembrokeshire bacon stood out for me and for dinner both their duck and lamb dishes were delicious. All the staff were lovely- very friendly and helpful. Our bedroom was decorated with Laura Ashley type wallpaper with a very modern bathroom including a bath with jacuzzi. It was easy to see why they had won the A.A. prize for Best Guest accommodation in Wales last year. Every detail had been thought of to ensure a first class relaxing stay for their guests.

St David's as a place is beautiful , shame about the hotel actually I can't call it a hotel more a working site, or kennel, dogs barking all nite no consideration for guests . no wifi .no tv in rooms working properly, Boiling weather fridge useless . my son three years old was made to feel we had to eat in a separate room because it was a place totally not young child friendly . Food amazing, the waiter nice , music for dinner and breakfast exactly the same. Over a total let down spent nearly 500 pounds on a building site if you don't believe me call them and ask all the questions you like from the points iv raised its not worth more than 50 pounds a nite . No where 5 star, it aweful in all respects

Having eaten here in the past on several occasions we took our friends when they came to stay. The food continues to impress and standards are well maintained. This is our favourite eating place in North Pembrokeshire and we will be back.

We found this through Alistair Sawday website and were not disappointed in the slightest. From the moment of booking through to departure after 3 days, we were treated with an exceptionally friendly service. As it was our honeymoon (when booking we were asked if it was a special occasion), we were given the suite at the top of the house and it was extremely spacious, very comfortable, very clean and well equipped with TVs in both rooms, tea and coffee facilities, and toiletries. The food in the restaurant, for breakfast and dinner, was well presented and well cooked and it was good to sit in the lounge area before dinner and read the menu whilst enjoying a drink, either served to you or taken by you from the honesty bar. Thank you very much and we would hope to return at some point in the future, perhaps with friends next time.

Stayed for two nights in the 'Coach House' on our honeymoon and were very impressed with the accomodation which suited our needs very well. The overall feeing of the B&B and the owners was friendly yet professional and nothing was to much trouble (even bringing afternoon tea over to our accomodation in the rain!)
We had a fantastic evening meal and were given a number of choices which we were not expecting. Food was of extremely good quality and we were un able to fault the service.
Highly recommend to those looking for a break away from the stresses of everyday life, the coach house had the added bonus (which made it even more special) of a seperate lounge area so we were able to relax sitting on a sofa in our own space.

Room Tip: Coach House and Long House both have seperate lounge areas which are private to you as guests.

We had three wonderful days staying here. Mr. and Mrs. Evans were excellent hosts and nothing was too much trouble. Food was top quality and beautifully presented and served. The hotel is furnished very tastefully and our room, which consisted of bedroom, large bathroom and entrance room, was decorated elegantly. Hotel was beautifully clean and extremely comfortable. Location was good for local sightseeing and the view from our bedroom window was across open countryside. We would certainly recommend Crug Glas and would welcome another trip back there.

Room Tip: Front of house which offers views across fields and hills

Official Description (provided by the hotel):
Crug-Glas luxury country house is a mixed working farm of approximately 600 acres. We have dairy cows, beef and cereals and we consider ourselves to be a traditional family farm working alongside nature. We are about a mile inland from the coast and being so far west, situated on the end of St. Davids Peninsula, the sunsets in the evening are stunning. The sun going down behind Penberi rocks is absolutely breathtaking and has inspired many local artists. Crug-Glas has a great amount of history attached to it, in the 12th century the farm is mentioned in the Black Book of St. Davids. This book is an accurate account of many of the farms, manors and estates in the locality naming the owners and tenants of the time. Crug-Glas is reputed to have been one of the many seats (residences) of the Bishop of St. Davids. The farm remained in the hands of the Church for many centuries and it was eventually sold in the early 1900s. ... more   less
