My adult son and I visited the spa on Monday 20th May for a chill-out day to celebrate my birthday and the spa did not disappoint. The lovely Rachel greeted us in reception and took us through the options for our day before showing us around the facilities. Lunch was also included and for this we were taken to the restaurant to choose from the buffet, which was pleasant, and also given a glass of bubbly.

In addition to those in the spa, the leisure facilities available on the day were: pool, hot tub, heated loungers, gym and steam room. There was an aqua fit class running in the pool between 1:30pm and 3pm, so the pool was out of use at that time, although we had been told that a section would be available to continue to swim in. I did join in with some of this, as the activity meant no quiet relaxation was possible around the pool during it. I guess we could have gone back to the relaxation room at reception, but that has chairs rather than loungers. The magazines in the relaxation room consisted of magazines relating to the Spa trade however, so if you do plan to read make sure you take your own material!

Unfortunately the sauna was taken out of use in the late morning and the ice fountain did not work, so we were unable to sample these.

In terms of the massages we booked, these we undertaken in a double treatment room on the first floor. The atmosphere in the room was relaxing, however the fan over my bed was intrusively loud. We opted for full-body massages and scalp massages each. The full body was great, but my scalp massage concentrated on my face and forehead rather than my scalp, which was disappointing. No faulting the overall sense of peace and well-being though and the oils were lovely: aromatic and not greasy.

All-in-all we had a great day and would recommend it to others, just a few niggles that I'd like to think would be sorted out before we booked again.

Stayed over the Bank holiday weekend & really enjoyed it. Clean spacious & modern rooms with a large comfortable bed & with a bonus ceiling fan which was very welcome & quiet.Quite busy with 2 weddings going on but slept very well with no noise at all.The pool was quite busy but we enjoyed a nice swim, sauna & steam room.Overall would recommend as near to Cheshire Oaks,Chester & Warrington.

The room was spacious and location good. The reception and restaurant staff very helpful. Spa staff could have been more accommodating, friendly and understanding of my disabled son's needs. They stopped him from taking photos at pool though only taking pictures of facilities. Room information was not clear that children could use the pool only at certain times and when my husband and son appeared at 7.30am on Sunday morning were refused entry. Disappointing because one of the main reasons for choosing this hotel was for the pool for my son.

Dear Bridget M

Thank you for taking the time to leave a review of The Park Royal Hotel. We are pleased that you enjoyed your family weekend. We are sorry that you were disappointed with access times to the pool for your son; I am sure you will appreciate that we have to get the balance right so that all our guests can gain access to the pool hence why there were restrictions in place at that time. I hope we can welcome you back to The Park Royal in the near future.

We stayed here for 2 nights whilst attending family wedding in Lymm.
Rooms were clean and tidy, well equipped and great value for money.
Bar prices a bit steep but that would be only gripe.
We ate in the restaurant and food was excellent and staff very attentive and courteous.
The swimming pool is fantastic and very large by hotel standards.
Breakfast very nice and good variety,
All staff were keen to see you had a good time - obviously well managed hotel.
In contrast my brother and his family stayed at the Daresbury Park - which sounds like Faulty Towers without the humour!

Spent 2 nights b&b at this hotel and found it very clean throughout - including the leisure centre. The staff helpful and interested in their customers. Would recommend it as a place to stay to visit Chester etc. and will certainly return.

Me and a friend stayed on a package deal which included one nights B & B, lunch, dinner and 2 treaments in the spa. The hotel room was ready early which was great and convenient and the room was nice and clean. Lunch was a healthy buffet style consisting of soup, salad and jacket potatoes which was ok but not great. The spa staff were lovely and helpful one in particular showed us around however the spa itself was a little disappointing as it had a pool, one small quiet room which wasnt quiet and a gym. The two treatments were also a little disappointing, i opted for the massage which was nice but not like ones i have had before and the manicure was just painting my nails with nail varnish, which really wasnt what i thought and as i came out of the room the nail varnish stuck to the large dressing gowns provided which ruined them instantly. I was actually extremley dissipointed with the manicure especially as it was my first. Dinner was nice, however the menu had been changed from the the website and we were allocated a set amount of money and anything over would need to be paid which was fine and the meal was good but i wasnt overally keen on my choices. Breakfast was a buffet style with a choice of hot and cold food which was pleasent but i personally prefer freshly cooked breakfast as they had the self serve toasting machines which i do not like. Upon checkout a service charge was also added for the resturant but was removed with no problem when it was explained that we had paid cash and tip at the restuarant. There were possitives about the stay, we had our luggage taken up to the room and the staff were very nice and at dinner a cocktail was made up that was not on the menu which was also nice. But the spa and bad manicure and little things such as a corkage charge on alcohol not bought from the hotel made it not that great and would probably book elsewhere for a spa day/stay. The hotel itself i would stay at again as the room was nice and clean which is all you want from a hotel stay.
