The Sidewinder course is definitely the stepson to the more spectacular Dinosaur Mountain course, but it shouldn't be discounted. It may not have the spectacular views and the crazy elevation changes, but it is a solid, fun, challenging round of golf.
My friends and I played both courses in one day and on the Sidewinder course we got hit with a crazy dust storm and high winds while on the back nine, so our scores took a hit, but not our enjoyment level. This course is just a good as many of the highly-touted courses in the Phoenix metro area.
It is definitely worth making the drive out there to play 36 holes and take in both courses. The Sidewinder should not be ignored.
