Our two main courses of bangers and mash and chicken and leak pie were well prepared and nicely cooked and presented. The veg. was fresh, flavourful and cooked lightly. We each had a very passable glass of french rose and Syrah. The bill came to £36. The service was friendly and unpretentious. The decor gave a unique character to the place with an open and airy feel. We look forward to going back.

My husband and I recently had dinner at The Eltisley. Although the service was good and the atmosphere lovely cosy and warm The food really let the occasion down. The starter of Chilli squid was actually very oily Calamari with a very stodgy batter and bland flavour. The main meals we had were Duck breast which was under cooked and had absolutely no taste at all. It was served with a nasty carrot mash that was lumpy under seasoned and really not pleasant at all. The rump steak was okay, nice flavour and well cooked but really nothing amazing. We obviously didn't dare try the puddings......
Shame as the pub otherwise seems really lovely and the staff are great.

Thank you John and all your staff for making an impromptu dinner out so pleasurable. My husband and I felt welcome and at home. The food was great. We started with a combo of light bites and then we both tucked into perfectly cooked steaks. Pud - Choc brownie and ice cream divine and very yummy. A great experience in a country pub. Will come back again.

Went with my wife and her family, for a birthday treat for her mother.

The starters of Prawn Cocktail, Grilled Chorizzo, Pate and Calamari were good quality and well cooked.

The mains of lamb and beef, the lamb was lovely the beef was ok but the amount and variety of vegetables were disappointing.

The deserts of sticky toffee pudding was cold but good quality, creme brulee was lovely and choc brownie was cold but again good quality.

The staff were friendly and atttentive although on a number of occassions we were asked the same question by different serving staff.

The only disappointments were

For the price I would have expected better vegetables and a bit more on the starters and puddings.

Most importantly they forgot to do anything for my mother in law despite promising this the day before.

Overall good but overpriced for the variety and quantity of food.

Took 25 minutes to take drink order. So rude. Generally CRAP service and left us waiting for ages throughout. Cleared half of the dishes away then went to get desert menu and disappeared for 10 minutes. Asked for bill - took another 10 minutes with staff standing doing nothing. Guinness was warm. Name of reservation was wrong.
