Had a lovely afternoon exploring the sight, nice and cool under the trees. Everything is well signposted and details of what each of the derelict parts where. Good visitor centre and friendly helpers.

The Fantastic Volunteers who look after the Park - The Friends of Oare Gunpowder Works and the Swale Arts Forum hold an Artist led event every year in the Park. this year it is on Sunday 7th July from 10-4pm - its free and is about showcasing Art in our environment. This is beautiful magical woods and lends itself perfectly to having artists located discretely across the park musicians, painters, sculptures, workshops and demos all from Swale and are professional artists who work within the environment highlighting this historic park and its activities. Its a totally relaxed and informal day - well worth a visit.

It was really a walk around a country park, stopping at well signposted old/derelict buildings. It was interesting to see the different processes involved in the manafacture of Gunpowder. It was an enjoyable experience, and would be great for dog walkers.

Ok, I admit I use this place a fair bit for dog walking rather than its historical aspect, but the old buildings lend some atmosphere to this nature spot and when its quiet and you cant see anyone else, I think it does have a unique to feel to the place.
It is flat ( unless you go up the steps to the now opened up country path along the top) and there is wheelchair access along the walkways. I use this spot when it is raining as there is some shelter from the over hanging trees and when it is very hot, it offers shade. I think you should visit, younger kids will love it - as my dog does, going up and down slopes and steps and voer walkways. Quite a few volunteers look after the place I understand...it shuts at 4pm weekends 5 pm weekdays.

Found this place by accident, it a superb site, a nice pleasant flat walk, lots to look at and see. Loads of ruins of an old bygone industry set in beautiful woodland. Lots of wildlife and very unspoilt. Nice little visitors centre, with very helpful people. A good little piece of his history. And its free
