My honeymoon with my wife at Royal Pines Resort over 4 nights was supberb. From the welcome at the reception to our departure it was a sheer pleasure of enjoyment.......we had an upgraded room which was terrific on the 19th floor with supberb views.

All four restaurants ( they have 7 restaurants ) was most enjoyable......they have upgraded one and are about to commence renovations to their 21st floor restaurant. The service non intrusive. The golf course is fantastic to play on. The big advantage with this hotel is that they are located within Surfers Paradise but are in a quiet location. The breakfast location beside their big family pool is terrific

We stayed for 3 nights and chose this location as there was a surf carnival on and we wanted somewhere quiet away from the beaches. We were late checking in as our flight was delayed but there was no problem with this as there is 24 hour reception.

We hired a car from the airport so transport wasn't a problem for us. There is parking undercover or nearby if that park is full.

I had originally booked for only two nights in a mountain view room and used my RAA card for a discounted rate. We decided to stay another night and were lucky enough to get a deal with a buffet breakfast included for $175.

The buffet breakfast in the Kalinda restaurant was excellent. There was a good selection of food and juices etc and we enjoyed this very much. We didn't get to eat at any of the other restaurants but would have liked to try the seafood buffet. There is room service if you require it and we did this one morning for breakfast, and thought it was reasonably priced.

Neither of us are golfers but this didn't matter. We enjoyed part of the golf course to take a walk out to the chapel and shared the path with a lizard or two on the way.

Our room was clean and modern with two double beds and was serviced daily. We would have preferred one queen size bed but this wasn't a problem and we slept quite comfortably. The only minor problem we encountered was there was only one bedside table between the two beds and none on the sides.

There are plenty of activities to participate in if you want to, but we didn't get to do any of them as our stay was mainly to visit family. I hope to go back sometime and use the pool etc. and just relax at the resort. I would definitely stay here again and recommend it particularly to couples.

We stayed for 2 nights to watch the Ladies Masters Golf . It is convenient be on site and not have to travel in to the event. I would not recommend this hotel unless you were interested in this event or wanted to play the course here. The downside of staying here is that it is isolated so be prepared to have all your dining needs met here or alternatively pay for 25 min cab ride into Broadbeach if you want a wider choice of dining options. On check in there appeared to be many staff available but none interested in serving the long line of guests waiting at reception. Some guests left in exasperation as the wait was too long. We ended up piling our luggage onto a trolley ourselves and taking it up to our room. We were allocated a twin room when we thought a king had been booked. The receptionst was quick to point out that it was clearly our mistake. In the end we were able to upgrade to a suite at a cost . The corner spa suites are worth the extra and are well furnished and spacious with good views.Surpisingly there didn't seem to be digital TV reception despite a large plasma on the wall. We dined at the signature restaurant RPR's one night which was fabuous and great value and at the hotel's Teppanyaki the next night which was a huge disappointment , terrible food and overpriced. OK hotel if you are there for the golf.

Pools are good. Gym equipment is new. Rooms are typical for a nice hotel. While there are plenty of restaurants, there a lot of cross-fertilisation. ie you will see the same types of meals and deserts in multiple places. Looks ok for kids with a shallow pool and play area.

We stayed here for one night which was enough for us, the resort itself is lovely, the room was lovely, the pool was great, we arrived early after driving for 11 hours in car to be told room was not ready which yes was our fault but we were not offerred anywhere to put bags or advised we could have a swim or anything like that customer service was terrible, service at the cafe near the pool was poor, we walked up to counter and no-one would serve us they just kept talking between themselves we just wanted coffee and cake and they said they didnt have cake, they failed to mention that inside hotel was a place you can have coffee and cake, we never felt welcomed from the moment we walked up to reception, the only good to come out of it was the Valet parking guys who opened my door and said good morning. Definately wouldn't stay here again.

It was a last minute decision (i.e. 3 weeks before the actual stay) to go to the Gold Coast for some rest and recreation before returning to work. Had to please everyone, golf for the husband, pool and the beach for the child. For me, just the opportunity to chill out and not cook or clean for a week.

After a thorough research (travel research is what I do for enjoyment), I chose RACV Royal Pines Resort. Although the beach is not walking distance, it has the advantage of being far from the noise and chaos of Surfer's Paradise. We were there after all to relax.

The standard mountain view room that we were given on the 11th floor overlooked both the mountains and parts of the golf course (and the convention facility roof). It was spacious, the 2 double beds were adequate, and housekeeping was great in keeping it clean every day.

Husband enjoyed the golf course and the driving range which had discounts because of our RACV membership. The outdoor pool was great. I enjoyed the new gym on the fourth floor which used to be an activity room.

There were coin laundry facilities so we didn't have to pack a lot of clothes.

We arrived late and were famished so we ordered in, but on some nights, we tried the on- site restaurants such as Arakawa for their teppanyaki (early bird, $20-35) which was value for money, and the Kalinda restaurant's seafood buffet (good selection, also had kid-friendly options) which was free for the child.

Our hotel booking also had free buffet breakfast on some days which we also enjoyed.

For breakfast and lunch, I suggest you go to Teeside, their restaurant at the clubhouse, it is a shame though that they are closed for dinner because they have great salads as well as rice meals.

Didn't avail of the Angsana spa because of our budget.
We hired a car and went to White Water World in Coomera for one day, on other days went to Kurrawa beach, which was about a 15 minute drive from Ashmore.
Also availed of their free (for RACV,RACQ, etc) bus shuttle that goes to Pacific Fair, Jupiter's Casino (both at Broadbeach) and Q1 (at Surfer's Paradise), which is a good option for travellers without a rental car.

Overall, we had a lovely time. We have been to other RACV properties, Cape Schank and Inverloch, but the RACV Royal Pines Resort was the best.

Came here to celebrate my bday with my husband. Didn't know much about the place apart from the golf course. Got agreat deal with our RACQ membership. From the moment we arrived I was impressed.

Service was excellent, our room was lovely, modern decor, on the 8th floor and had a view to the gold coast. Pool area was lovely, great for kids.

Had dinner at RPR's on the 23rd floor. They had a great deal for $49.50 for 3 course meal. The food was fantastic and the service was good too. The view is spectcaular at night. The only downside was the decor was a bit dated but that's about all.

Had a lovely buffet breakfast the next morning.

Overall I thought this was great value for money and will definitely be back.
