We stayed from April 1 till the 8th. This is our second stay at Royal Pines, the first being back in 2009.

Everything was very familiar to us and the upgrade of the Executive Lounge was outstanding, making the venue so much nicer for those using the lounge area.

This visit, we had our 12yo daughter and one of her school friends for company. The girls thoroughly enjoyed the pool and OzBobble activity. I think they drank the Executive Lounge out of hot chocolates too … sorry about that Royal Pines!

We used In-room dining once and, another time, took advantage of having meals brought to the lounge. The delivered food was hot, fresh and equally as good as that in the resorts restaurants.

As Japanese food is one of our favourites, we had to try Restaurant Arakawa and, it did not disappoint.

In other recent reviews, I’ve read the comments regarding the lift noise. We did notice that, but it didn’t worry us unduly.

And, as another reviewer has commented, it might be nice to know if there’s a large function on during your stay. I must say though, that we had no bother whatsoever, despite there being a Rugby League conference event over many days, and a wedding too.

Overall, we found the staff to be very accommodating, with some being exceptional. The resort is well located, wonderfully maintained and very relaxing.

We’ll be back as soon as we get another opportunity.

Dear JeffJaneMia

Thank you so much for your review, Great to read that you enjoyed the Executive Lounge so much - it is really becoming a popular options with members and guests. Our new leisure facilities have also been very well received with the Segways and ozbobbles very popular as well.

Our Japanese restaurant "Arakawa' is a firm favourite for many of our guests and nearby residents with the Teppan tables a sell out on weekends. Great to read your other dining experiences in the hotel were also so positive.

The lift noise problems are hopefully a thing of the past with new rollers installed. I note your plans to return - great news - we look forward to welcoming you back!

Worst place I have stayed on the gold coast. Room noise was terrible due to 'lift maintence'. I was not given a reason as to why these rooms that were effected so badly by noise were still in use. Large event on at hotel which we were not warned about previously (ball held in conference room) meant that even as paying room guests we had no choice but to double park. Informed hotel staff of this to which they answered as long as we weren't blocking anyone's access to their car no problem. (Parked on end of row no access blocked) came down after dinner (about 3 hrs later) to again try to find a spot only to find a sticker on car indicating we would be towed for illegal parking. Forced to park car on the street. Reception staff were completely indifferent to our concerns during stay and upon check out. On the plus quite clean and good pool area. Bar staff also friendly and efficient. I would however not recommend anyone stay at the RACV royal pinesand would infact discourage anyone from doing so.

Dear macfad

I appreciate you taking the time to write a review about your recent stay at RACV Royal Pines. We have been experiencing some intermittent noise from our lifts during the upgrade but our lift contractor assures us that the steps they are taken will ensure a whisper quiet ride.

My apologies about the sticker on your car regarding parking. This was the unfortunate result of our security teams enthusiasm overriding common sense. These stickers have now been destroyed and they have been directed to follow the advice that you were given on check in - ie that if the car is not blocking access at all, that is fine.

It was nice to read your positive comments about the service and the pool area. I can assure you that you parking issue was the rarity not the rule and it would be a shame if your lasting impression of the resort was negative. Accordingly, if you are coming to the Gold Coast again, please contact me directly on john_morris@racv.com.au so that I can personally manage a future reservation to ensure your memories are positive!

Royal Pines Resort on Australia's Gold Coast is a good choice for conference organizers. Last weekend I chaired a 2-day conference there.

The conference room, exhibition booth area and dining facilities were ideal for our event for 400 people. Staff were friendly and efficient, food was good quality and well presented, and the large bedrooms are nicely appointed.

A major frustration was the breakfast buffet where the only way to order an omelette or fresh poached eggs is to approach a waiter. No orders are accepted at the omelette cooking station. This was inefficient, and so slow that some guests (including me) had to leave before our order was ready.

The elevators appeared to have an intermittent fault on both days, failing to stop at levels 8 and 9 despite buttons being pressed by guests waiting on those levels. Thank you to hotel staff who took me to the conference level via the food service elevator after I had waited on level 9 for 14 minutes with no elevator service.

Dear Chesspoint

Great to hear how well your conference went at Royal Pines - thanks for your comments about that and also other areas in the resort. I will talk to our Food and Beverage Manager about the egg station on our breakfast buffet. From your comments it appears that it would be relatively simple to streamline the ordering process.

The elevators are currently being refurbished and unfortunately we have had some teething problems with the new elevators. The contractors have assured us that these have been rectified so hopefully it will be smooth riding from now on.

Again, thanks for your comments and we look forward to welcoming you back for conferencing or leisure

Kind Regards

Our 3rd stay there and this time only for one night. Very disappointed. Reason going was to enjoy their well known buffet and the park for our 7 year old.
Nowhere on their website or any communication given that their was a private function and the restaurant was closed. Yes its good that they are busy and fully booked but the Option given, by the duty manager, was an italian - as if there arent any italian eateries around. The park was closed due to bad weather; most kids dont care about the bad weather - she was swimmimg in their pool , in the bad weather.
Our room 1602 was close to the lift and all night felt like we were next to a wind tunnel. Im sure some might like that but we came home for a rest.

Highlight of the night was discovering Fantasy of Food SeaFood Buffet at Jupiters. Devine and only $55.00 Definitely rethink RP due to the lack of care and communication

Dear leannwi

My apologies that you were unable to dine in Kalinda restaurant on the weekend due to a private function. Normally, the variety of other dining options suffices with Amici, our Italian restaurant a very popular option for families, but, it is still disappointing if you were planning on the seafood buffet.

In regard to the playground, this was closed for safety reasons as we had over 60mm of rain on the weekend which unfortunately meant that some of the surfaces and equipment were too slippery. My apologies that you were unable to use this facility.

On a brighter note, the resort has now dried out and we hope to be able to welcome you back in the not too distant future.

Kind Regards

Stayed 1 night for what was supposed to be a romantic surprise for my fiancé.
The lady that met us at the front (had a apostrophe in her surname) wasn't overly friendly & couldn't be bothered to spell my surname right even though all she had to do was copy it & then tried to make a joke out of it. Surely for a hotel this size, there would be all sorts of surnames - quite rude really.
The lady at check-in was lovely & friendly as was the man who bought our bags to the room.
The older lady working at the panorama lounge was fantastic - very friendly & personable.
We ate at the Italian restaurant where Noelia was our waitress & she was great. She was happy & friendly & bubbly. The manager there also came over for a quick chat & was friendly. The food was amazing!

We then went back up to the room to use the spa in our spa suite...all was good until the thing would not turn off! We called reception & whilst she tried, she had no idea what to do so she sent security up!?
He was apologetic & whilst he couldn't help, he advised reception would call us to shift rooms.
The lady at reception bought our new room keys up but we were expected to move our luggage ourselves - which we did & all uncomfortably at 11pm.
Upon check-out we were basically grunted at by the blonde woman at the counter who at first tried to charge us for the second room we'd been moved too...she was rude & awful to deal with!
I have stayed here quite a few times & have never had any problems until this stay & then not to even be offered anything for the disruption to our stay - very disappointing.
We are booked to stay here again for 3 nights in May & I really hope things have improved!

Dear Helly1984

Thanks for your review and your positive comments about most of the staff you dealt with. I have passed on your comments to those who you complimented and have asked our Rooms Division manager to look in to the poor service you experienced on check out . Great to read about the food in Amici's - it has a very loyal repeat clientele because of the great food and service!
Prior to your next visit, please contact me directly on john_morris@racv.com.au as I would like to personally ensure all goes well for your return.

I have stayed at Royal Pines man times over the years. Never been disappointed. The beds are just AWESOME. Hardly ever find such nice beds in hotels. The rooms vary. Some are larger than others. Some have balconies and some don't. I would very much like to one day stay on the Executive Floor. But so far have only stayed in regular rooms. Our recent stay was just for one night but the staff just couldn't be nicer. They treat you like royalty. It feels great. I just LOVE this place and just wish I could get us booked in for November but it appears to be fully booked out for the dates we want.

Totally recommend this hotel. Maybe not so good if you want to be close to the beach but for golfers and spa aficionados this is the place to stay

Dear BrisCaz
Thanks for your great review! We do get quite a few comments on how good the beds are here and how well rested people feel after sleeping on them. Even nicer to read your comments on the staff and how well they treated you. And yes, if you get the chance, try the Executive Floors on your next visit which give you access to the Executive Lounge - an indulgent but affordable treat!

We spent the night recently with another family and have only positive feedback for Royal Pines. We stayed in an executive suite which gave added benefits, it was absolutely FANTASTIC!! We will definitely be back. The executive lounge was a definite winner with us, the drinks and canapés were a real treat and the breakfast wonderful, even smoked salmon on the buffet!! The pool restaurant prices we thought were very affordable and reasonable compared to other resorts. This is an all round fantastic family holiday, the pool was amazing and lots on offer. We just wish we had 2 nights and not just the one. Well done Royal Pines, we will see you again soon.
