We stayed at Ellwood Cottages, myself, husband, daughter and 8 year old grandson and it was fantastic. The cottage had everything one could think of for disabled and able bodied. I thought my grandson might be bored but the pool was a big hit with him. Ann and John were there to welcome us, flowers and a basket of Dorset goodies was provided. Everything was to a high standard, I don't think anyone can beat it, if I could give more praise I would and the weather was sunny all week.

We stayed at Ellwood Cottages for a family holiday.
The cottage we stayed in had 2 bedrooms, each with an en-suite wet room. One with twin beds and the other with twin beds and bunk beds.
The cottage was clean and well presented and very welcoming, with flowers on the table and a hamper of goodies to start you off.
The kitchen was well appointed including washing machine, microwave and dishwasher as well as all the crockery, cutlery and cooking equipment you could need.
The owners, who live onsite were very friendly and made us a coffee with cake on arrival, which we enjoyed, while they explained the available facilities, which included swimming pool, well maintained garden and therapy room.
These cottages are intended to be an ideal location for people with mobility difficulties to enjoy a holiday, with their families and are very well thought out. Everywhere is wheelchair accessible, but the place doesn't feel clinical and is a homely environment for all to enjoy.
Poole, Weymouth, Bournemouth and Swanage are all within 30 miles of the cottages and there are a number of other attractions nearby.
There are plenty of pubs in the area, providing a choice of traditional food and drink, although we thought these were a little expensive for "pub-grub"
Overall a good time had by all and we would certainly return if we can.

We have recently returned from our 5th holiday at these wonderful cottages.John and Ann are exceptional hosts and are there to meet you on arrival-helping you to unload your car and then bringing a welcome cup of tea, during your stay nothing is too much trouble for them to ensure your holiday is a happy and relaxing one. The cottages are beautifully furnished and equipped for both able bodied and disabled guests - any special equipment needed can be obtained. The pool is lovely and warm and has a hoist so that nobody is excluded from using it -you need to bring your own sling. The gardens are beautifully set out with tables, chairs and parasols, the flat paths around the gardens make it thoroughly wheelchair accessible. We shall return to Ellwood, as having a profoundly disabled 11 year old we know how hard it is to find somewhere that meets all her very special requirements and at the same time we can enjoy a relaxing and restful holiday.

I stayed here in October 2010 with 4 of my best friends. It was like home from home! We stayed in Blyton Cottage and loved the place, the owners were lovely and very helpful. The cottage is one of three and they also have a library with
Internet, a therapy pool and treatment room. We spoke to the owner before we went on holiday and got the number of a Beauty therapist who came in and did a range of treatments on us for a very reasonable price. The cottages are in the countryside and about 30mins away from the nearest supermarket, so it's advisable to get food and petrol beforehand. The cottages are specially designed for disabled holidaymakers,so they have extra widened doorways, the light switches are lower and the plug sockets higher, wet rooms, ramps and lowered work surfaces etc. I would highly recommend this place for anyone who wants a relaxing, peaceful holiday where you can be Independant and still feel like it's home! Thank you again to the wonderful owners!
