The hotel "Cocomar Beachfront Hotel and Island Resort" located opposite to the beach of Palo Seco near Parrita, Costa Rica, is a surprisingly beautiful place!

The welcome is warm, enthusiastic and helpful, from the reception, the restaurant staff, hotel staff and even the gardener.

Our room, located on the ground floor of the second building of the hotel complex was spacious.
The large bed, well equipped bathroom with a walk-in shower and two sinks to decorated in harmony with the rich Costa Rican nature, small details like a fridge, coffee machine, micro- waves, large wardrobe, air conditioning working well, and especially the stunning views of the Pacific Ocean from our terrace, made our stay unforgettable.

from our room as from the terrace restaurant, we had to cross the park, planted with coconut trees beneath which walk a few small iguanas, and the gravelled coastal road to reach the beach, opposite to the hotel.

The long black sand beach of Palo Seco, lined with coconut trees and battered by the strong waves of the Pacific Ocean invites to relaxation and meditation.

The hotel pool, clean and with water equal in temperature to that of the neighbouring ocean, although small in size, offered a point of detente between the two main buildings of the “Cocomar” home.

Of course, not everything is perfect in this place: the gravel road, sometimes with potholes and characterized by a very rippling surface, is not the most amusing to go, but our 4x4 (rented at San José), was at the height of the challenge.
The hotel restaurant is a bit small, but a renovation and refurbishing was expected.

In any case we are curious to see what has changed and what has been improved in a future stay, as this is certain: we will return to "Cocomar Beachfront Hotel and Resort Island"!

We stayed here for 11 days with 2 kids, one -2 months old and one two year old. The rooms are amazing. We stayed in a beachview suite with a full kitchen. The room was very clean and the maid staff cleaned every day. The endless beach was definitely the highlight of the resort and perfect for kids. I rented a surfboard and surfed everyday. We had a car rental which is a must here since the town of Parrita is around six kilometers away. We did our groceries here since it is a full service town with everything you need. The location of Cocomar was great for day excursions to Manual Antonio, Jaco or Playa Hermosa. The only complaint would be the pool deck; it was very dirty. We mentioned it to three different people but it remained dirty. It would only take an hour to scrub and hose it down. It is the perfect family set up!

Room tip: Ocean view rooms are amazing!

We arrived and there was no electricity, and when we were taken to our rooms, there were people inside. Apparently, it was occupied by someone else and there were no available rooms, even though we had made the reservation months earlier. To make things worse, this hotel is quite isolated. There was only one lady at the reception who was not able to help us and we had to leave with our hands empty and drive for almost half an hour to find a place to sleep for the night. Extremely disappointing.

We are staying at a nearby hotel, Beso del Viento, which we will review later. Our hotel contains an expensive French restaurant and we wanted to eat cheaper, local food. We love had fish filets with vegetables, potatoes, rice and salad. We also had rather expensive fruit shakes. The dinner came to $84 for 4, but the environment was pleasant and friendly, and the food was delicious. We'll probably go back. The alternative restaurant on the peninsula where our hotel is (very bad unsaved road) is Sol y Mar (cheaper but long wait and VERY noisy on a Saturday night). Cocoa is Th bat choice nearby and probably the best in the Parrita area.

Very isolated beach hotel, plenty of privacy on miles long beach stretch. The owner, Chad, met us at the reception. Young man but doing very good job to run this place. Due to system error, our Expedia reservation did not cross over, so for that "inconvenience" he upgraded us into much better suite. Very attentive and helpful. Place has a good sized clean pool and a restaurant. Rooms very cozy and comfortable, nice wifi signal, tv....And it is very quite and relaxing!
