“Bliss in cornwall”
Reviewed June 12, 2018 for a stay in June 2018

Once again Superb holiday in a superb venue. As always Felicity and Simon the perfect hosts. Will be booking for 2019 shortly. A new addition of a summer house to watch those cornish sunsets stroke of genius.

“Great little location off the beaten track.”
Reviewed June 8, 2018 for a stay in May 2018

If you are after quiet and some tranquility, this is an ideal location while still being in close proximity to many of the major attractions.

We enjoyed our time here. The owners who live next door are very friendly and helpful. All the amenities mentioned in the tripadvisor page were as expected.

Location is somewhat hidden and very peaceful but you do have to drive on an unpaved country road for 5 minutes to get there. Perranporth beach is just 10 minutes drive and is quite nice and comparatively peaceful. The hustle and bustle of Newquay is 15 minutes drive. Town of Truro is also just 25 minutes drive.

Overall, I would sayShilbury ticks all boxes if you want something quiet and convenient as an anchor point to explore Cornwall.

“Honest feedback”
Reviewed August 29, 2017 for a stay in August 2017

We have offered an average score for this holday rental property as there were a few minor failings that didn't come up to a standard that should of made our stay perfect.

Firstly, there should be huge warnings about the dirt track that leads up to the property. The warning should state that the track is NOT suitable for low axle vehicles and only suitable for 4 wheel drive. Anyone with back or leg disabilities be warned that the track experience can be extremely painful and bruising due to the pumps and knocks received during the drive up to the property.

I am dissabled and have some problems with walking. We discussed my needs and made the agent aware of my dssablities prior to booking. However, we would advise that changes to the cottage description and search fields be made to Trip Advisor's advertisement of this property. They state that the property is suitable for wheelchairs and provides Wi-Fi which is not a true search criteria and would be misleading if booking on line and without checking with the property agent first.

Upon arrival to the cottage, we were met by our very friendly and helpful host. Sadly, we were not greeted with a hospitality pack in the cottage. It would of been a nice touch to be provided with a welcome pack to at least be able to make a cup of tea or coffee. There was also no guest book or information about the area or where to find the local shops and reccommended pubs. These little touches would of made the welcome experience more pleasurable. On the whole we found the cottage to be clean but a bit tired and in need of some inexpensive TLC. The soft/hard furnishings and provided towels/linen were clean but well used - only 2 small guest towels and one hand towel provided. We had to roll up the floor mat as we found it a bit of a trip hazard. The modern 'wet room' bathroom could benefit a bit of re-grouting. The sponge mop provided to dry the wet floor after a shower was inadequate and needed to be replaced. There were no cleaning products or vacuum cleaner available to keep the cottage clean and tidy (free from doggy hair) during our stay. Also, we would advise that the crockery be checked prior to new guests arriving as we found some of the pots and pans had not been cleaned properly and still had used fat and grease in them. The glassware had not been rinsed after use and were coated with greasy washing up product.

Such a shame we have had to provide an average review. The cottage retreat could definitely benefit from some simple upgrades and changes. Providing a simple hospitality pack shows that the guest is welcomed and made to feel valued.

Apart from these negative niggles, the positives were the pretty garden, the peace and quiet and the friendly, helpful host.

Thank you for your review of this cottage.

We discussed the lane and your disability in detail prior to you booking the cottage and we advised you to take the shorter lane option rather than the longer route as the latter is bumpy for traffic.

This is a feature of living in the countryside and as our advert explains clearly, the cottage is in a peaceful, rural location.

We have had wheel chair users here before so again after our discussion with your disability in mind and the flat surfaces into and out of the property and from the car this should have been suitable for your needs.

The wifi is being installed later this year.

We have passed on your housekeeping comments to the Owner for their perusal but from our point of view this cottage has always been maintained properly and it is suitable for all types of guests.

Kind regards,
The SCC Booking Team

A little off the beaten track. Family run, by a friendly couple. Plenty of short walks, including to the local pub. The bathroom sink requires needs attention, plug not holding water. Very quiet, peaceful place though.

The Owners are aware that their property is in a quiet location but most of our guests love the property and surroundings. The Owner is attending to the bathroom sink.

Thank you for your review of this apartment.
The Owner works hard to make sure all guests enjoy their self catering experience. The Owner will attend to these two minor issues.

We look forward to seeing you again in 2018!
