We are regulars to this restaurant as we come to portsalon about 3 times a year. The food changes every time we come to the restaurant. And the quality of food is inconsistent. Sometimes it is very good and other times it is average. This time I got the pizza which was home made and very tasty and a perfect pint of guinness. I was looking forward to the seafood chowder but it has been removed from the menu to my disappointed. The menu was average priced. the view from the restaurant is beutiful overlooking the sea and mountains. Staff are very friendly and helpful. Lovely wee bar next door to relax in after the meal with an open fire in winter and pool table.

Went here with two other adults and three children. Children's menu was. Just o k but poor for the price. The three adults order battered cod which was not fresh and the batter was cooked in oil at too low a temperature which left the batter oily. The chips were large potato wedges not chips. We told the waitress of our dissatisfaction but were ignored. Altogether very bad value for overpriced food.

This was so disappointing. We were a party of 3 adults and 3 children and paid 100 euros for main courses only with drinks. Hugely overpriced. The kids' chicken burgers were dry and over cooked and my daughter got 4 chips. Whilst they were large chips the portions were small; again at 8 euro for a 1 course child's meal with no drink, this was extortion. All the adults had battered cod with salad and chips. The fish was terrible- not fresh and the batter was soggy and oily having clearly been cooked in oil that was not hot enough.
When we were asked at the end if we enjoyed our meal we explained why we had not and they just said they were sorry to hear that and did nothing further! I'm not sure why they asked.
We felt we were paying London prices for below average canteen food. Disgraceful.
Although the view is unbeatable and the staff pleasant, this is one to avoid at all costs.

Was here at the weekend and the location is beautiful and the restaurant has great views. The food was just ok, nothing special. Would I go back, probably not. I had the steak and it was well over done, my friend also had steak and he asked for it rare and it also came out well done! Another friend had monk fish and he thought his was overdone as well. Maybe the chef was just doing everything well done that night!
Portsalon is a lovely place with only a few places to eat this is one place that I probably will not be going back to.

Lovely menu. Fresh food. Good wine list. Fantastic view. Great atmosphere.
Nice staff but could do with a little confidence boost, some self assurance and a smile
in order to promote this beautiful spot.
