My husband and I spent 2 nights last week at this little gem! We were made very welcome by Ian and Alan. The hotel is in an area of outstanding natural beauty which we enjoyed exploring. Our room (No 4) looked over the lovely garden and surrounding countryside. The hotel was beautifully furnished. Our room was very well appointed. The en suite was modern and had both bath and shower and was very clean. We had no trouble with cold showers as previously mentioned. We had a lovely dinner in the hotel on both nights, and breakfast was fab. I would strongly advise a visit to Tir y Coed for a relaxing child free break!

Room Tip: Room 4 overlooking the garden - also has a siiting area.

This is an excellent country hotel in a beautiful location, the rooms are very comfortable and breakfast is outstanding. We have stayed in many hotels in this area over the years and this is definitely one of the best. It has a very welcoming atmosphere and beautifully furnished.

The Snowdon National Park provides a beautiful backcloth, the local village is pretty, perhaps too many holiday homes and the local pub looks inviting (and is, piped music aside). But the Tir-y -Coed is something different - we thought it might be, when we saw the garden, in which a lingering walk would have provided a lovely diversion had spring arrived in time.

But as soon as we went through the front door, we knew that we had made the perfect choice. The initial impressions of its comfortable bar and breakfast room, cosy lounge and dining room promised a pleasant and relaxing evening ahead. Our bedroom was spacious and well appointed, comfortable and immaculately clean .The food, both at dinner and breakfast was locally sourced and superb, with menu choice and Ian's touches befitting the setting.

But most of all, we loved the welcome and the friendship provided by Alan and Ian. Irrespective of its other attributes, it is the hosts at this outstanding small hotel that makes the deepest and longest lasting impressions. I cannot wait to get back to their exceptional hospitality and of course, to sample some more of their tasty and creative dishes and to see some more of Alan’s shoes.

Room Tip: We only saw one room. That was perfect- I have no doubt that the others will be the same.

We have just had a lovely night here. The hosts are very welcoming and keen to give a good service. Our room was comfortable and clean. The shower was warm rather than hot but that is the only slight negative. We loved the food which was very nicely prepared and the breakfast was really gorgeous. I would have no problem recommending this as a lovely couples' retreat.

We based our Snowdonia holiday at Tir y Coed because the tripadvisor reviews were so glowing and also for the hotel's location in the picturesque village of Rowen with the unspolied northern Carneddau mountains on the doorstep.

The two owners were exceptionally welcoming. They went to great lengths to treat us as individuals. Nothing seemed to be too much trouble.

We stayed in the Rowen Suite. It was spacious, extremely comfortable and very well serviced.

How relaxing, after a good thrash in the fells, to settle down in the snug sitting room with its log fire and intriguing range of books.

Dinners and breakfasts were excellent. Every effort was made to accommodate our tastes and preferences. Highglights included the breads, the fish and the cheeses - all locally sourced and so fresh. We also made several enjoyable forays into the wine list.

We have stayed in many British hotels which have strong points but still let themselves down: the room is inviting but the food is poorly executed; the location is attractive but the receptionists are apathetic; the decor is luxurious but the service is leaden.

This hotel, in contrast, got everything right. The owners' approach reminded us of the very best in Switzerland, where hotel management is a profession - a vocation even. Small wonder that Tir y Coed has so many guests who come back again and again. We're going to be among them.

It was through trip advisor that we booked our stay and the reviews do not lie. I booked 2 nights over valentines and I'm proud to say I made a great choice (I've been in the good books ever since because of it!!). The guys are so welcoming with a real relaxed flair which feels completely genuine.
The food is wonderful with a wide selection of wine. Having attempted Snowden unsuccessfully it felt great to know we would be coming back to a gorgeous meal accompanied with a lovely glass of red sat in a beautifully themed and warm hotel with friendly hosts.
Over breakfast (which is fantastic...the perfect start)The guys gave us some great local information on where to walk that day. I have to say the walk of the two lakes was breathe taking which we would have never found ourselves, thanks guys!
I've never written a review before but the expereince we had at this privately owned hotel makes you want to rave about it. We would never stay anywhere else now in Snowdonia and will most definitely be coming back.

Room Tip: For the meal go for the Jaguar Tofte with a nice bottle of Red yummy. I presume all the rooms are a...
