Description: This was our favorite pub on our recent two week trip to London and Wales. It had our favorite meal and favorite ale. The new owners are wonderful. This is NOT the same Ty Gwyn Hotel that is already listed on Trip Advisor. (Ty Gwyn is a popular Welsh name.) Rowen is a very small town, though in a wonderfully scenic tourist area of Wales in Snowdonia National Park.

There is always a warm welcome in this traditional family run pub - very friendly staff.

We recently visited for the Friday fish & chips special - the bar, restaurant area and tea room was in full swing with locals and visitors socialising alongside each other. The Battered cod, fish and mushy peas served with tartare sauce is delicious and a very generous portion - but too good to leave. We cleared all our plates! Great value for under £10. The half roast chicken was also very tasty and well cooked.

Booking is advisable if you fancy the fish & chips as there's a limited number of portions.

The curry being served to the next table also looked and smelt lovely - i'e already decided that's what I'm having on my next visit!

Brilliant to see a thriving and successful country pub in these times of austerity where there is frequent news reports of pubs across the country closing down on an almost daily basis. A great testament to the management and their hard working staff.
