When we landed on St Thomas, our car rental company messed up and wanted us to pay 1300$ on a credit card to secure a vehicle. The limit on my card was 1000$ so we were stuck without a rental car on st. thomas. Our villa we rented was on St John, so we took a taxi to Red Hook and took the people ferry over to Cruz Bay.
Long Story short, we took another crazy taxi to coral bay and the driver refused to "take us up in the hills" I knew our place was close to Island Blues so I had our driver drop us off there. Mind you, we had just flown in from the midwest and my wife is 4 months pregnant. Coral bay was mostly shut down (it was 9:00) so it was very dark and quiet when the taxi left. So no car, not 100% sure where our villa is and everything looked deserted. (Don't worry Im getting to the part with the Oasis)
There was a light on in the dirt parking lot across the street and a couple of people sitting around and a closed sign on the Oasis gate. We walked up and asked for help. Karen gave us water and iced tea (for free even) and helped us contact the property manager and didnt leave us until we had our ride home.
They truly lived up to their name as an Oasis!
The food was also some of the best on the island. We had their broccoli and rice, a zucchini bake, a crab pie, sweet potatoes, plantains and raisins, all were big portions and really tasty. Cant wait to come back!
Hint: They run out of food so call ahead with your order.
