We were so impressed with this gem we ate here twice during our stay on the island. We can't say enough about the talent and creativity of Chef Rose and her husband's ability to pair libations that so compliment his wife's food. The atmosphere is wonderful. Our waitress was very helpful in acquainting us with the menu and was just downright pleasant. We would fly back to the island tomorrow just to go back and eat here again!

Wonderful little place in the heart of Coral Bay. Great local food and even drinks made with local sugar cane. I work on a charter boat and send people here all the time. Bring bugspray though. The outside tables can be a little buggy.

My wife and I spent 2 weeks on St. John and we ate at the Sweet Plantains twice - both times were excellent. The food was excellent as well as the service. We had the same waitress both times and she felt like a friend after the first meal. She was very knowledgeable about the menu and super friendly. She interjected herself where appropriate and was both very friendly/laid back while being professional . Her amazing service definitely made the experience over the top.

We had two favorite meals – the first one was my wife’s which was the Corvina fish special in a brown butter sauce (I believe). The flavors were unique, bold, and went very well together. Our other favorite meal was the short ribs – the meat was flavorful, tender, and the accompaniments were perfect.

Overall this was our favorite restaurant on St. John. The food was excellent – the flavors were unique yet very tasty and everything was paired well. On top of that the service which we had was impeccable – I wish we could take that waitress with us to every restaurant we ate at!

We stayed on the east side of St. John and found the number of nice restaurants in the area limited, so we were thrilled to find Sweet Plantains. The food and drinks were AMAZING! Definitely the best meal we had during our week stay. The service was excellent, and while the outside of the restaurant wasn't quite what I was expecting for the nicest restaurant on the east side, the inside was breezy and very charming. It wasn't a cheap meal, but it was a fantastic one.

This little restaurant in lovely coral bay was just what we needed after a long travel day. We went on curry night and had a choice of two types. Both were very tasty and mango panna cotta was a wonderful end to the evening.
