A casual conversation on the beach led to a recommendation so compelling that four of us dashed across the island in order to try the lobster roll and "Drink Right Drive Left" before The Tourist Trap closed for the day. We were so glad we made the effort! We loved the relaxed outdoor seating and friendly folks. Not only was the lobster roll delicious, the jerked grouper sandwich was outstanding! We loved the drinks--the Boom Boom made a great dessert! Prices were amazingly low for such great food. So now, we're adding our recommendation: Be sure to have lunch with Larry and Cheryl at The Tourist Trap!

The pulled pork taco was out of this world as was the fish taco ~ and the atmosphere is nothing like you will find anywhere else. Throw out a few picnic tables, put up a tent, serve up great food and this is a recipe for success and in St. John it works.
Stop at the tourist Trap after a day at Salt Pond or Lameshur. If you forget your bug spray, fear not, Larry has an assortment waiting for you. A fun place not to be missed.

We've been to St. John 3 times and never miss a stop at the Tourist Trap - we do most of our cooking in our rental villa, but always plan a lunch at the Tourist Trap around a trip Lameshur or Salt Pond Bay. This is a roadside stand, with a seating area under tarps, a nice view, cats all over the place and stellar food. In other words, the perfect Coral Bay place.

Larry does amazing things with pulled pork, and his homemade sauces are fantastic. We've also enjoyed the fish taco, but I can't pass up the lobster roll. It's the real thing. My father said it was better than the one he'd stood in line for hours for in Maine. Nothing is cheap in St. John (lobster roll was $18, tacos $7 each when we were there) but the Tourist trap, its friendly service and "made with love" food are worth every cent!

I just noticed that Tripadvisor now asks you "is this one of the best meals you've ever had in a restaurant?" when you give something a five-start review. Well, no. But it is one of the best overall experiences including food that I've had in the Caribbean!

It's open 11-6, closed Sunday and Monday. Work it into your schedule.

Looks like a shack beside the road, but has so e great food. We had the fish sandwich and others in our party had the taco and the BBQ. Pretty open air seating, but watch out for mosquitoes. Great place to stop for lunch.

This is a great local spot to eat. Quirky. Great food. Fun servers. We really loved the pulled pork nachos and pulled pork tacos, so we ate at The Tourist Trap twice in three days. I wanted to try the Lobster Roll, so I guess we'll just have to book another trip to St. John. Yes, there are mosquitoes, but they have bug spray available. This is a sub-tropical island, so bugs are part of the ambiance. I hope people just keep eating here so they stay in business until our return...some day.
