“Calm organically And great beaches”
Reviewed May 12, 2013

Playa Giron is about 200 km from habana capital city before to get to playa Giron you will arrive first is playa Caleton a beautiful beach that is tinted with red colors from the mangle , also in your way to playa Giron yo pass by CUEVA de Los Peces a Cenote , Greta area for snorkeling
Playa Giron , places to check not really mush to see other than a great natural beach don't imagine varadero remember is the south part of Cuba where is not the Caribbean , the museum is very well place very interesting if you like history , I stayed at a Casa particular they are around 30 cuc to 15 a night only recommend a couple of days , restaurant can offer you a great creole food with seafood lobster etc very economic , this beaches are pretty mush visited by Cubans locals
Great sunsets and organic place , also playa Giron is located in a natural reserve is call cienaga de Zapata infected with crocodiles but Cuba that a very good job to keep the far from danger , also don't get full by restaurants offering exotics plates in Cuba is very easy to eat exotics food but is not legal even do nothing really happens , we'll is up to you , have fun enjoy

“Museo Giron”
Reviewed December 27, 2012

A fascinating, touching and well presented museum recording the Bay of Pigs invasion. Photo montages and personal items belonging to the many who died in the fighting add a human touch to the maps, weaponary and tactical accounts. You can't miss it - there's a complete Hawker Sea Fury aircraft and several tanks parked outside the front and it's worth going just to see these alone.

“Museo Giron (The Bay of Pigs Museum at Giron), Matanzas, Cuba.”
Reviewed November 14, 2012

The main museum telling the story of the Bay of Pigs invasion in 1961 is in Playa Giron on the Zapata Peninsula of Matanzas province. There are displays of various military equipment and photos of the men who fought here. The road leading to the north-east is lined with small monuments to the soldiers who died defending against the attack. Further along the road in the town of Central Australia is the headquarters from which Fidel Castro directed the Cuban forces. This has now been turned into another museum. To see this one, you may have to track down the woman who runs the museum. She lives in a house a couple of hundred feet away.
