“Lovely stay”
Reviewed July 29, 2013 via mobile

Love this place, very nice appartment with a very friendly staff who help you to enjoy your stay at Langkawi. Location is perfect, walking distance from the beach, restaurants and shops, yet in a quiet area.
Absolutely recommend it.

Searching for somewhere to stay on Langkawi, I sought the advice of my fellow trip advisors. Thank you! My husband and I loved staying at Villa Molek. Our villa (think mini apartment) was wonderful. Complimentary breakfasts were great (fruits, breads, cold buffet + cooked eggs as you like them). Staff were also polite and helpful. A big advantage of staying here is that there are two good restaurants at the front of the property: one Italian and one Malay.
Also on-site is a beauty salon (for massages, pedicures and manicures, etc.). As we were given a 'free foot massage' voucher when we checked into our accommodation, I chose to go and add on a pedicure. If you wish, salon services can also be given in the privacy of your room.
The pool is not large or fancy, but it is very clean and great for cooling off.
Villa Molek is well positioned. There is a little French bakery (French Chef) about 100 yards down the road. There are plenty of restaurants nearby and, if you really want to try a restaurant further afield, taxi fares are incredibly cheap (compared to Melbourne prices).

Room Tip: IMO the upstairs villas are best.

We have spent there a week in 2012. Very nice place for reasonable price.

PROS:
- quiet, nice and cosy rooms
- friendly staff

CONS:
- a bit far from main beach and restaurants (for some it may be an advantage though)

In general would come back if Langkawi were be on my travel plan

Beautiful rooms with complimentary snacks and bathroom essentials. Staff were really friendly and very keen to make sure our stay was a pleasant one. We received a free foot massage from the neighbouring spa. A lovely, quiet location, close to the beach and facilities of Pantai Tengah and Pantai Cenang. The fact that no children are allowed was a real plus! We had a fantastic stay and would definitely return.

Room Tip: The king size beds are amazing!

We stayed at Villa Molek for 3 nights and have come back with huge praise for the place. When searching for accommodation in Langkawi, we were looking for a quiet place away from the busy part of the island & we found the perfect place in Villa Molek

About the hotel:
- First of all the staff, Shayda deserves a special mention – from the the time of check-in she was extremely efficient at explaining what, where & how of the villa. She helped organize for the rental car, island hopping cruise as efficiently (an at a good cost!) as a lot of reviewers have indicated. A big thank you to her!
- The villa was really "pretty" and comfortable. The kitchenette & the sitting room makes it home-like at the same time. The tea/coffee making facilities & few items of crockery make the place self sufficient
- While the swimming pool is small, but it's a good way to relax after the "strains" of the day
- The hotel's policy to not allow children makes it a quiet haven away from the milling crowds in Langkawi
-The fantastic Crabtree products make for a marked change from the usual hotel toiletries
- Breakfast options, though limited, are well cooked & in their beautiful dining area, everything has this happy sheen around it

Nearby area:
- The store next door offers basics & Langkawi’s other attraction for tourists – duty free alcohol
- Sun Café next door serves up excellent food & drinks and there are other options in the neighborhood but this seemed to be the most popular
- Though there’s a complimentary spa voucher (within the villa complex) is given at the time of checking-in, I would recommend skipping it. The quality of services is not as good as what can be found in other places

Overall a fantastic place & we look forward to returning to it sometime

We are just staying here In for sure one of the top places of the island and are simply loving it!
The rooms are very big, have even a living, dining and kitchen area - all in an amazing design with a modern Asian touch - very luxurious and relaxing. Our room (111) is on the top floor overlooking the stylish pool area where you can chill on your own balcony. The whole compound is super quiet although only a few minutes walking distance to the beach and high street with restaurants. One of the lovely staff is Sheida - she is the to go person and will advise you of all top restaurants and bars - even some you would have never found. On request she even writes down what you should order - fantastic & spot on. All in all we have a great time and can confirm that all good reviews are well deserved - we highly recommend!

Room Tip: Ours 111 - or anything on 1st floor because of the view to the pool - but all rooms are great

This was the last fortnight of our sojourn to Malaysia. My wife picked it for its size, and the fact that no kids are allowed !

We arrived late and flustered from Penang but were made to feel welcome. We skipped the fruit juice and instead did justice to a beer each from the fridge. We were in room 12, upstairs and furthest from the main building which made it a bit quieter. Rooms were very good and well designed and it was pleasing to have a full sized fridge in the room for all those essentials.

The pool was fine, we spent a lot of time sitting in the water keeping cool (the humidity is fierce) and it doesn't matter if it's not really deep enough for swimming because it's not that sort of place.

The Italian restaurant on site was fine, service slowish, but the wine was extertionate. Half a litre of house wine was 50 ringgits which is nealy €13. I bought a litre and a half of drinkable californian red at the liquor store round the corner for 28 ringgits !

The downside for the hotel is the al fresco toilets and shower rooms, mainly because the sliding doors allow gekkos to come in, and they are big and noisy. (even the local mini market is called Gekko). We have gekkos here in Greece but they are quieter and aren't allowd in the house. Also, a flat screen tv would be nice.

So, no problems really with the hotel, but the rest of the island we weren't taken with. The main strip in the town was all cheap t-shirt shops and fast food outlets. We hired a car for a couple of days and did the round trip on day one in about four hours. There a no real views of the sea as big hotels have commandeered the best beaches, and what is left is military areas. I wonder if the island is really geared up for western tourists. (eg the nearest chinese restaurant had its menu in Russian !)

We ate in the Italian, a Lebanese across the road, a Turkish, and latterly at the Beach Garden Resort which we enjoyed best.

Room Tip: Upstairs rooms get more breeze so sitting out is more comfortable.
