For travelers who hate to be "herded" this is the ideal way to actually get to know a beautiful and interesting region of England. Paul and Susie Wilson were the perfect hosts for our six day stay (wish now we'd made it longer!). Church House was charming, comfortable and immaculate; the flower and vegetable gardens complemented the home. The meals were amazing, especially the home-baked breads and the hearty and creative soups. Truly outstanding was the Wilsons' concept of tours. Instead of piling into a bus half asleep and being obliged to visit attractions you don't care to see as well as those you do, the Wilsons allow their guests to set the itinerary, while providing in-depth knowledge of the region for suggestions of destinations that fit special interests. In our case, the day trips fulfilled our desire to see English gardens and even a water-powered mill and antique shop, as well as the more typical attractions of Bath and Stonehenge. Paul, as well as his other driver, were open to the many questions we asked, AND we didn't need to learn to drive on the left side of the road!! We heartily recommend Church House.

My wife and I are garden enthusiasts and wanted to spend time in the south of England visiting the beautiful gardens of the area. We found Discover England on the web and began communicating with them before deciding to book. Everything from that process on was a pleasure. Paul and Susy are great hosts and cooks and their home oozes of warmth and charm. We stayed for a week and saw gardens of all sizes, shapes and varieties within a reasonable distance from their home. It still seems like something of a dream after being home now for a month or so, with so much done in such a short time. Yet it was always relaxed and at a pace we enjoyed. I can't imagine anyone being disappointed in the experience at Church House.

Our visit was our 20th anniversary of four women who love to tour gardens in England. We have been to England seven times before, always driving our own car and staying in rentals or B&B's or hotels. We have reached the point where we no longer want to drive "on the wrong side of the car on the wrong side of the road", so when we saw the website for Church House, our prayers were answered - we planned our agenda, Paul took us where we wanted to go, and Susy kept us fed! It was perfect! The accommodations were very comfortable, the other guests in the house while we were there were such fun, and the food was wonderful! Paul and Susy were so helpful in helping us build our itinerary, and I think all four of us would say it was one of our best visits! They even made the weather behave!!

We spent only three days at Church House, but Paul and Suzy made our stay just perfect. The food was absolutely incredible: homemade bread and soups were just the starters of delicious three course dinners. AND the fresh coffee from a French press topped both meals. I had hit a roadblock in my genealogy from Somerset County. Paul (on his own) went online found the Heritage Center there and made an appointment for me. I was able to examine microfilm, add over 100 years to my already known information. We visited my families roots in the microscopic village of Pen Selwood. Went to Stonehenge and Bath, then had great food in little hidden gardens and restaurants that only a local would know. While driving our discussions varied from agriculture, tectonic plate migration to gardens and ancient churches and castles as we viewed the beautiful SW England countryside. Then I slept like a baby. Needless to say our stay was simple marvelous.

Our time spent in the Church House B & B was far beyond our expectations. Paul & Susy made it so inviting because they seem to enjoy serving others together in such a gracious way. The meals were delicious; the best desserts, breads & rolls & perfect scrambled eggs! Dinner was not rushed and we enjoyed lingering over our wine and meeting new friends. Even the weather was perfect for touring the gardens and sights. Paul drove us on those narrow roads through the beautiful countryside with skilled ease!! We truly felt welcomed into their home and left refreshed. Definitely a memorable "20th Anniversary"!! Thank you, Paul & Susy for a memorable vacation and my you continue to prosper doing what you enjoy!!!
