A great find. Museums/sites about the paleolithic era are few and far between, and it is even rarer to encounter one which isn't dry and dusty. Paléostie manages to present the subject matter in a way which was engaging for adults and children -- another big tick. My six-going-on-seven year old was hooked.

The place is marketed in English (and Spanish) as well as French, and all the audio in the exhibition had language choices. It's a shame Ao (the film) isn't available with English narration in the shop (even though scenes shown in the museum are available in English), and also the girl at the ticket counter didn't speak English, which could be a problem if you don't speak French, as you might struggle with the instructions regarding the start of the "exposition". Basically, wait until the doors to the first theatre open before you go through the ticket barrier, and it's all clear from there :).

The other minor criticism I have is the fact you could only look at the various reconstructed prihistoric encampments, rather than go inside and look at them up close. It would have been nice, too, to see one or two re-enactors around, to whom you could talk with.

It does have a café, but it wasn't open on a weekday during term-time, so it was just as well we'd already had our lunch.

Overall, though, I'd definitely recommend.
