“Disappointing”
Reviewed January 29, 2013

As locals we've dined here many times in the past before new change of hands:we dined there recently and things have certainly changed.2 of our friends ordered the lambs liver which arrived swimming in gravy and sadly the liver was overcooked and was unpleasant...it's not difficult to cook a classic English dish. The waitress apologised and gave a complimentary drink and cheese and biscuits.A nice touch but would have preferred the liver cooked properly. The Leek, stilton and mushroom wellington was dull. The fish and chips chosen by 4th friend had no complaints.Disappointing as we like to give local restaurants our custom.
The website in need of updating as the menu bears no resemblance to what is now on offer.

“Great Sunday lunch!”
Reviewed January 16, 2013 via mobile

When we went they had a full normal menu plus Sunday lunch of Roast Beef or Pork with Apricot stuffing. They have full servings at £9.50 or small servings at around £6.00. The small ones are great if you're not extremely hungry. Well recommended.

“Great nosh!”
Reviewed January 16, 2013 via mobile

I was surprised at the earlier review of sunday lunch as the one we had last weekend was delicious and good value. Thinly sliced pink beef with home made yorkshire puds and selection of veg. True, there were just two choices of meat but both looked fab so didnt really present a problem. Really good that they wil serve a smaller portion for smaller appetites. Cant speak for dessert as we didnt have any. Nice glass of guest wine too. Will return.

“Country Pub Grub”
Reviewed November 2, 2012

Great Range Country Pub Grub- we were an awkward family lot in for a small B-day celeb. Abit trepidated as heard place had changes hands since last eating here when fish supper was beautiful. ..but think Kitchen staff haven't changed/ Portions were large espec. starters. I concur with another reviewer -wish it was my local. I'll prob. come in regular for starters and a dessert all the time. Good selection beers, tap water provided in jugs , just std. wine list. Most seemed pleased with options chosen from the blackboard...fish pie, steak (and kidney) pie, battered fish, curry, black pudding, soup. They don't skimp on veggies or salad. Chunky Chips Good. To get to it U just turn up Donkey Lane -straight on at a jaggered Xroads and park at lower car park if u can climb stairs.
