I travel extensively, both for business and pleasure, but rarely write reviews. However, after spending 11 unforgettable days at Six Senses Laamu, I cannot miss to share my feelings of this incredible experience.
We are mid- age family of 4, with 2 daughters, age 6 and 12. We decided to go to Maldives just a month ahead and jumped into looking different resorts (already went once a few years ago- W Maldives). Obviously when you are spending a five digit sum you are picky and a little but suspicious- is the resort of your choice going to live up to your dreams and expectations?
I am sure there are many top resorts in the Maldives but what makes Six Senses different and special is their attitude and attention- to nature, to environment, to you, to your kids. I will briefly try to give you some ideas of what I mean + few tips which I could not find in any reviews and perhaps future visitors will find helpful:
BAREFOOT- sounds simple and you say- what is so special? But the feeling is incredible. You walk everywhere barefoot (you do not have to if you do not want but I promise you will). Even in the public bathrooms. Do not have to think of matching shoes or be warm during the day and night. If I can describe the feeling in 1 word- it will be Freedom.
SERVICE- impeccable. Everyone makes...I travel extensively, both for business and pleasure, but rarely write reviews. However, after spending 11 unforgettable days at Six Senses Laamu, I cannot miss to share my feelings of this incredible experience.

SERVICE- impeccable. Everyone makes you feel at home without bothering you or getting in your private area. You do not notice the staff but they are always there if and when you need them. And all look genuinely happy to be working at the resort. Genuinely is the key word here. People are really nice and happy.
ACCOMMODATION- we had big debate- is the regular beach villa with pool going to be spacious enough and comfortable for sleep with the 2 kids? Because the villa with 2 bedroom is double the price. The answer is YES- do not even think about it. The beds for the kids are regular beds, room is spacious, big garden with pool. Water villas are nice as well but we are not big fans. But if you like the experience, better stay in the Sunset water villas as they give more privacy. If you go for beach villa definitely get the one with pool- it is 100% worth not only because of the pool but also because of the big garden/ yard. As for location- best for me is near the Dive center as you can go directly to the reef.
REEF- this was priority for us. The house reef is great with a lot of sea life- we saw turtles, sharks, rays and many many different kinds of fish. Best place for snorkeling for me was in front of Dive centre and also going from Jetty A to the Chill Bar.
RESTAURANTS- 4 restaurants, different type of food, all great. Do not miss the Asian buffet!
TRIPS- did the 2 fishing trips, had great catches, definitely recommend them. Go for the evening fishing with your kids and the morning alone or with friends. Hire the yacht if you can afford it :) The snorkeling trip was also nice!
OTHERS- free ice cream for all, great marine biologist to show you around (our 12 year- old daughter took a 5 day course and got a certificate- made her trip), very nice kids club....
I can continue for another hour but mu kids want to go for dinner so I stop here. Do not think much of the domestic flight- the trip is 100% worth it.
Thank you, Edith, and all people at Six Senses for this unforgettable 11 days- we went initially for 8 days and extended with 3 more :)More
