Six Senses Laamu is paradise. Simple as that. A great place for a honeymoon or an anniversary, the resort makes the most of the natural and stunning surroundings. We went for a 5 day holiday "just for fun" and fun we had. We stayed in an over water villa on Jetty A, a "sunset" villa. We preferred this for the wide ocean views. Jettys B & C- also lovely, face each other so Jetty A is a must if you're looking for nothing but water and sky.

The entire staff, from the Manger, Marteyne, Steve at Watersports, Hiromi, Petra & Oleg at the dive center and Afra, our GEM (Guest experience manager) were friendly, helpful, and not over bearing. All are highly skilled at their jobs and give good advice for beginners and pros alike. If you go, do meet the adorable Abi in the chocolate and ice cream bar... you'll love her sweet nature almost as much as the over 40 flavors of ice cream!

If you can, you must take the day trip to the private island. Beautiful, secluded, a bottle of wine and a picnic make the day one you'll never forget. Walk the island and be a bit risky and skinny dip if you like! The island is all yours.

One tip: take your own reusable (non plastic) water bottle. The resort has a strong eco-ethos so all water is purveyed in glass bottles. It would have been nice to have my own non-breakable bottle to take out on my paddle board or while biking around the island.

If you're an active traveler of if you just want to sunbathe for hours you can find the vacation you're looking for here!

Room Tip: Choose Jetty A "sunset" villa for an unobstructed ocean view.

My husband and I went to Six Senses Laamu for our honeymoon in October 2013. The resort does a brilliant job at coupling luxury with simplicity. Everything was perfect from the airport transfer service to the food and accommodation to the final goodbye.

We particularly loved riding our bikes everywhere and the no shoe policy (you can of course wear shoes if you wish, but guests are encouraged to embrace their relaxed approach to luxury-fine by us!). I actually wish I had know about this 'policy' beforehand as I wouldn't have packed those 4 pairs of shoes...People dress very casually and their are no 'fancy' restaurants on the island so you can get by perfectly well with a few beach dresses and shorts and t-shirts.

The staff are brilliant-very friendly and helpful. The design of the villa was well thought out. There was privacy where you needed it and plenty of different areas to sit and read while enjoying the view. We loved the resorts approach to sustainability, especially the fact they grow their own herbs and veggies on the island and use local produce form the surrounding islands.

The snorkelling is amazing. We hired stand up paddle boards and paddled around the island which I highly recommend.

As many other reviewers have said, this little resort island is a slice of heaven on earth. Just go-experience it for yourself.

Send 3 night at the laamu water villa. I would say this resort is a must to go once in a lifetime. Very Eco friendly place, service standard is top notch and you will be surprise to see the management team welcoming you upon arrival. The only regret I have not enough time in this place.
This is a must go destination. No complaints

We just got back yesterday from a 6 day/night stay at the Six Senses Laamu and everything about our visit was amazing. This was our first trip to the Maldives and before we booked/went I have to admit that for me, the price tag was a bit daunting. I was like "wow, that's an expensive trip to go on..."... but now that I have been there my thought regarding price is "wow, i can't believe we were able to experience all of that for such a low price"... Really even when you consider that most of the food items appear on first glance to be expensive (or perhaps VERY expensive) you then should realize how much effort goes into growing the on-island garden vegetables and herbs, boating in all the other necessities, etc. They really are creating a wonderful top notch dining experience and it's in the middle of a beautiful ocean with the cleanest air and water you will find.

After being lucky to go, I now see what they mean by "six senses". Everything about the Maldives, at least here in the Laamu atoll, was amazing. The natural lush jungle vegetation, the amazing over-water villas with your own personal triplex home style feel, the super-friendly and humble staff that accomodate you and say "hi, good morning, etc" to you whenever you pass by, the fact that even if the island is almost fully booked you feel like you contantly have your own "private beach", "private ocean", as if everything was just there for you and yours alone.

In six days, we were able to do so much, yet be so relaxed: swim all over the place, snorkel whenever and wherever we felt like, sunbathe in our private backyard water patio, sunbathe on any of the beaches that surround the island, try out paddle-boarding, kayak around the island, kayak to other nearby islands (and use the fully empty beaches there), see shooting stars, go night swimming with no one at all to even know you are there, pickup hermet crabs, see the friendly water crabs sunbathing on the wooden steps, walk/run/bike around the cool sandy jungle paths that circle the island, take underwater pictures and video (we brought our cameras) of the amazing house reef and other reefs - so many types of fish, sea turtles, black-tip sharks, etc.... see dolphins swimming by every morning, eat SO much food every day at the wonderful breakfast buffet, have private dinner on our over-water clear table on the lagoon, take outdoor showers after all of that activity, etc.

Oh, and after taking a breather.... have over 30 different flavors at the complimentary ice cream cafe. They have very friendly staff all over, but also here where you can keep asking for different flavors. Sure there is chocolate, vanilla, etc... but try the one that has wasabe in it mmmm!

The nighttime stars are so nice, walk on the jungle paths and soak it in. You can wander around anywhere at any time. Everything feels so natural, very minimal "human" footprint. We took off our shoes the moment we got on the boat ride out here, and didn't think about wearing anything until arriving back at the airport. So refreshing and relaxing! Oh and there was a jungle cinema, where you can watch a movie in the middle of the jungle with other folks (or reserve it for yourself if you really wanted to).

Some tips I would have for others staying here would be: DO snorkel a lot, but make sure you swim out far enough to where it starts getting deep. That's where the actual goods are. Make a right or left turn and just hug the spot where the water gets darker. Any further in and it's just sand and bit of coral. DO kayak out to "Petrol island", the one in front of the restaurants. AMAZING beach on the right tip that no one is on. DO take off your shoes and never put them back on while there. DO bike ride and/or walk all over the island. There is a night light on the bikes, use it. DON'T step on coral while swimming. Just float over it and wait for a sandy spot to stand up in. DO eat as many ice cream flavors as you can during your stay :-) DO try the Vale Ale Australian pale ale, it's quite good. DO have a shisha/hookah at Chill Bar. DO night swim at the beach, one of them has bio-luminescence if you're lucky.

I know that we would be THRILLED to go back asap to Six Senses Laamu and would recommend to friends and family.

Room Tip: Choose a jetty side on any of the three facing "away from restaurants" to make sure you get sunrise and all-day sunshine. The other side on all 3 tends to look like more shade hits your patio. Also if on jetty A, try to get above first 8 or so to not face directly on the restaurants. Jetty C facing away from restaurants also is more on coral so you can't really dive off your patio like you can on the other jetties. We stayed at room 77 on jetty C at first, but we had trouble walking on coral in the shallows... but the view of uninterrupted ocean waves was amazing. We moved to room 25 for most of our trip on jetty A also facing same direction as our first room...and was perfect for us... easier to jump/dive and not hit coral since water is deeper and no coral there. also so easy to swim right to house reef.

we spent our honeymoon there and we loved it! Everything was just perfect. The arrival, the facilities, the staff, the food and the overwater bungalows (!) - very luxurous but still with a nature twist making it fitting into the environment. In general we loved the relaxed luxury style and very chilling atmosphere (no shoes, barefoot all the time, relax dress code at restaurants)you can find at Six Senses Laamu. Everyone gets a bike to drive through the island, this was great. We enjoyed that very much. The entire reception & restaurants area are overwater, this is very unique, wonderful and rarely seen at other resorts. The house riff was amazing, we saw so many fishes while eating at the restaurant, we could jump into the water to snorkel right from the chill bar, which was very cool. The only downside is that I would not bring kids along, as the facilities are more for adults than for kids.

Room Tip: if you want your privacy, take either Jetty A and Jetty C at the very end
