Beautiful location for exploring the surrounding area. The barn itself was stunning and stylish could not fault anything. The kitchen was fully equipped better than mine at home! The bedrooms where beautifully decorated in keeping with the barn fresh towels and bathrobes. Both bathrooms are amazing. The open plan living area was just fabulous for socialising for our family of 8 we also had use of the new barn extention for two people as well which was faultless in features and decor. It has an outside hot tub which added to the luxury of the weekend. The owners Mark and Rachel are passionate about people and they committed to making your stay memorable, relaxing and home from home.
We were lucky enough to spend five days of our honeymoon at the Lazy Fish & were bowled over by the barn and all the thoughtful details. It is spacious and yet homely and cosy at the same time, with lovely touches like a reading hammock, throws and bean bags to cosy up near the log burner, the world's largest bath, a hot tub and a very generous welcome hamper including yummy brownies, champagne & bacon and eggs. Situated in a lovely quiet corner of the Lake District & with friendly and accommodating hosts - highly recommended!
It was a real treat to stay at The Lazy Fish, it is so thoughtfully equipped, Rachel and Mark have thought of everything! The extra touches such as the yummy brownies and the toys for the kids made a real difference. We had a wonderful family holiday and have already booked our return.
This is a great place to spend your time when visiting the lakes. I have been twice now and will definitely go back again. Beautiful conversion and great location for some good walks
This place is incredible, I would highly recommend it. We stayed here for a short break over New Year and really didn't want to leave at the end. It is a converted barn which is very comfortable inside and finished to a very high level of quality. There's a massive stove in the middle (logs are provided) and a hot tub outside. The place is stuffed with books, games and DVDs if it's a rainy day or there are some lovely walks in the surrounding area. The owners Rachel and Mark are lovely, and there is a great welcome hamper when you get there (home made brownies and champagne were just a couple of the items!). I would definitely visit again.
The Lazy Fish is a roomy modern barn conversion with none of the chintz and all of the comforts. Perfect for a small family or two couples (the bedrooms are distant enough for peace/privacy).
There are so many highlights: the enormous open-plan living/eating space; the huge bath; the first-floor relaxing/reading nooks; the easy-to-use central woodburner that keeps the whole house warm, whatever the weather. (Along with the underfloor heating.)
There are good books everywhere, and the kitchen is loaded with equipment, which makes self-catering less of a hand-to-mouth chore. And if you don't fancy cooking there are two fantastic restaurants barely ten minutes' drive away. (The Pheasant Inn – rustic but good food; the brasserie at The Lakes Distillery – brisk and contemporary but again, excellent food.)
It's also close to Kendal and Whinlatter Forest (fantastic for walking/cycling) and, in warmer weather, would be the perfect strike-out spot for the coast.
The owners were friendly and flexible about the arrangements – including a slight last-minute change of plan.
One of those gem places that you will mark out for a repeat stay within half an hour of arrival. Loved it!
