We own Lakeside Country Guest House just down the road from the Wheatsheaf and have over the years supported this pub by recommending it to our Guests .and by eating there ourselves. It has previously had its struggles but I have to say well done to the new owners Sharon and John and their excellent chef Andrew. From the lovely friendly welcome, to the excellent food it was wonderfuil to see a full restaurant of happy people enjoying the ambience and taking full advantage of this tasty and inovative menu. Chef Andrew is brimming with enthusiasm for his craft and that relates to a wonderful meal on the plate.,.Certainly a place to recommend without hesitation.

We visited with our 18 month old daughter and nothing was too much trouble. They even entertained our daughter for a little while. The service was great and the food was delicious. Not a massive menu but something for everybody. Was very tasty and great value for money. A nice cosy little pub with stunning views. I can imagine its a great place to eat when the weather is a bit warmer. We will definitely go back and recommend it to friends.

Called in at the Wheatsheaf Inn in Embleton for a wee drink and some food and was blown away by the place. The place was very friendly, staff were excellent, food was excellent - everything about the place was excellent. Couldn't say a bad word about this place. Would highly recommend anyone to visit this wee pub in Embleton, off the A66. You won't be disappointed :-).

A group of 21 of us went for Sunday lunch. The food was first class, this pub really does serve proper home cooked food - and Yorkshire puddings to die for! The veg was fantastic not the normal frozen rubbish but fresh and cooked to perfection I could have made a meal of the cabbage and bacon. They even managed to serve us all together which was no mean feat. All in all I think I can say that this is one of the best pubs in the area and considering the standard of the food excellent value for money. Highly recommend
