its definately more for my son as his dad dreads it every year, quite expensive but every steam engine and thomas fans dream, we struggle to make a full day of it so spend half the day in bowness across the lake so it makes for an expensive day

Thank you for your review of our Thomas Weekend. Sorry you found the event quite expensive though ! I am sure you appreciate how much it costs in manpower, time and materials to put on such spectacular events. £11.50 per person or £41.00 for a family ticket is exceptional value for six hours entertainment provided by so many Thomas characters. Hope you can stop for the whole day and enjoy all the stories next time.

Just my luck it was a diesal day with only the Calder Valley 110 dmu running. It was a nice run if not a tad slow . I will come back to try for a steam ride. Quite interesting steam shed open to view & a member of staff was kind enough to show me the other shed where you need Hi vis vests. All on all. I enjoyed my visit.

Thank you for your review. Pleased to hear you enjoyed your visit and DMU ride and that someone took the time to show you round our working shed. Look forward to seeing you again when the steam service resumes next Spring.

Having a two year old grandson who is mad keen on Thomas we spotted the advert for the weekend whilst we were visiting the railway during the summer. What a fantastic day out which included one two year old plus grandparents and dad. From the moment we arrived, the Fat Controller was waiting with Lady Hatt for the first story. Thomas was in the yard as well as Deisel, Mavis, Trevor, Cranky, George and Terence. Toad was down the line and Henry was stuck under the bridge. We went to the Lakeside on Daisy and came back on Bulgy the Bus. Three stories were told during the day and in the sheds was face painting, badge making and sculptured balloons. There was also a little steam train to take a ride on. The stories were told by Sir Topham Hatt along with his wife Lady Hatt and all children and adults enjoyed the entertainment. Wonderfully the weather held out but the whole day (we went on Sunday but it was also on Saturday) was very well organised. Of course we just had to buy yet another take n play train in the shop whilst we were there. Oh yes and all children got a goody bag which we were not expecting and a nice added touch. Might just have to find out when the next Thomas weekend is. Well worth a visit and brilliant value for money.

This is an absolute must for any steam enthusiast!! Wonderfully preserved Steam locomotives running on the very beautiful preserved railway line between Haverthwaite and Lakeside. I bought my partner a 'footplate ride' as part of his 50th Birthday celebrations.

We also had a snack in the cafe, bacon on baguette, cooked to perfection and accompanied by a cup of tea.

The staff here are faultless in their attention to detail, making it a superb attraction to all - young and old!

Take in the stunning views along this amazing route and go back in time with the sounds and smells of vintage steam!

Fabulous and highly recommended.
