Round Lake Resort

Hosts are nice enough but I would have preferred that he spend more time maintaining the property than running around reminding everyone to take their shoes off before entering the cabins! Our cabin did not have a working smoke alarm- a fact we didn't realize until 2 nights into our stay- this after the resort had already experienced a fire in one of the units! The linens are on the last legs & no clean towels or t-towels were offered during the entire week. Had to clean the vacuum cleaner out in order to use it, it was so filthy. Light bulbs seemed to be short supply. The lake is unsuitable for swimming unless you like a dip in the farm run-off... very murky, weedy. The ancient appliances (no auto shut-off kettle etc) are another fire in the waiting. Raised porches & stairs are lacking rails- watch out if you have small children. The constant hints & prompting for tips was just plain annoying- we normally tip generously but not when our lives are endangered by lack of basic maintenance

Wayne , Nina and family are wonderful hosts. their resort was clean, well maintained, and had that rustic flare that I think people are looking for. they made us feel very welcome and and bent over backwards to accomadate some of our requests. My boys caught trout right off the docks and we would love to return in the winter months and enjoy the ice fishing and skating on the lake .

My husband and I arrived here for the night at the end of a day's drive with our two dogs. Checked into our neat little cabin & asked about restaurants nearby. To which Nina responded that the nearest, some miles away, were already closed. She then offered to share their supper with us, a first in our experience! So in addition to a great night in the woods around Round Lake, we had a summer supper courtesy of the Hamelins. We look forward to returning to this fine find, and appreciate the TLC that goes into making this spot so memorable.

Fantastic place to stay for families or anyone looking to get away from it all. Cabins lakeside, fire wood, canoes and paddle boats, life jackets - all included in the cost! The cabins are rustic and have all the amenities you could ask for. Plus, no TV or radio but there is wireless should you choose. The lake is beautiful and there is a swim dock off shore. Saw bald eagles, woodpeckers and a loon (great birding to be had). Wayne, the owner, is a great source for fishing advice & even lent me some fishing gear. He and his wife were kind enough to give us radishes and green onions from their garden. Our 18 month old loved playing with the bunny in residence as well as the kiddie jungle gym. Tons of space to run around. Overall, can't say enough good things.

I stayed in cabin "Lancelot". One bedroom, full kitchen, bathroom and private deck and barbeque area. I learned to kyak on this serene stellar glass-like lake and i was thrilled.
the cabin was comfortable with a large window to view the lake and the gounds. It comibined the living area and kitchen into a functional delightful area of respite. The little wood stove came stocked each day with fresh kindling and shavings for easy morning fire start. (it also had electric heat if one didn't want to make a fire) I love making a fire and i enjoyed the cracking of the wood with my morning coffee.
The cozy deck (similar to old time verandas) came equipped with comfortable furniture and a beautiful new barbeque (gas) There were fresh herbs in a planter complete with beautiful flowers.
The cabin had bottled water in large supply and iced beer mugs ready to be filled.
The bedroom came with a superb posterpedic bed and fine linen.

On a walk to explored the grounds i found a beautiful hammock suspended in the trees overlooking the lake. What a delight.
I loved it!!! It was very hard to leave.
The owners(Wayne and Nina) were most gracious and knowledgable.
I highly recommend this resort for a holiday away from the maddening crowds.!!

Room Tip: All cabins are equally quaint and delightful (I peeked in some windows) I think the Lancelot had the...

Great cabins, friendly family atmosphere, dog friendly, fire-pit nights, fish in the lake and quiet! We celebrated our 25th wedding anniversary at the cabin and Wayne and Leena brought over a beautiful cake for everyone! The extra niceities were many! Go and experience the relaxing way to "camp". Running water, tub and shower, fridge and stove and utinsels of every sort! Bedding and beds are very comfortable! Joyce and John McDonald, and Dog Polymar from Prince Rupert, BC Canada

Room Tip: All the cabins are great!
