My husband and I experienced a delicious and enjoyable lunch today in this village which has really captivated us. It was our second time to come here for a visit--but the first time to have a meal. The owners and cook, Nadia, Umberto, and Luisa were exceptionally friendly, interesting, informative, attentive--and we look forward to bringing friends with us to this place where kindness abounds, along with the delicious meal. The ingredients used are top quality, many of them organic, and they offer seasonal dishes not printed on the menu. Be sure to ask for these. Today we ate a delicious pici pasta dish, the pici made by hand using organic flour that gave the pasta a robustness and color not normally found. The sauce was ricotta cheese, walnuts, and pancetta sliced so thin you could read through it, but with fantastic flavor. We also had tortelloni (they looked like ravioli to me) with butter and sage. Other delicious things today included fried artichokes, lamb, and zucchini souffle. The portions are very substantial. We drank local wines, and had 3 different tastes of locally made amaro. One of the amaros was so good we purchased a bottle.
Nadia speaks English, and she was so kind to help us understand both in English and Italian what we were ordering. It was a delightful Italian lesson for us!
This will definitely be a place we will return to--it has everything we enjoy. Friendly owners, great food, located in a beautiful area, and an interesting village.
