“Not worth it”
Reviewed March 27, 2013

The peace and calm of this place has been taken away by camps, just in front. Loud noises and DJ in evening by/for the camp kids, destroys the peace.

The cottages 1-4 are good. The room and bathrooms are very clean. The food is good, but only vegetarian. The property should overall be more green and flowery for the price that is getting paid. The focus seemed to be on adding more cottages than making this property more beautiful.

Overall, i don't think I would be visiting again.

Room Tip: room 1-4 are good.

Pros of The Nest
1. Excellent staff, and Bhagwatji's name cannot be missed from a review of The Nest. He is soft spoken, very friendly, and is happy walking the extra mile. He offered to take us around and help locate a few birds, and did wake up at 5 in the morning with us for a short walk in the hills

2. The food is great! Again Bhagwatji is the key here. He would ask what would the guests like to eat and prepare accordingly. We were two families travelling, and overate at all our meals! The food was simply outstanding!

3. Cottages 1-4 are the best here, A couple of minutes downhill, they give you the private space and some much needed peace!

Cons
1. If you are staying in Cottages 5/6 your view is going to be a camp with tents. This camp can accommodate anything between 60-90 people, and it should be easy to guess what would be the noise level in that area when its full. The two nights we were at the Nest, there was loud music and loads of noise. I am sure its going to drive the birds away, and not to forget travelers too!

There is nothing wrong with the Nest, however I feel that the camps which have come up in front of this resort, and next to the Kafal House would drive both birds and business away. Pangot needs to have some control over the number of people who come in!

Room Tip: Cottages 1-4 are your best bet!

You have to stay in these resort to experience complete bliss and relaxation. Its is pure heavenly and soulful thing. Away from crowd, you have nothing to do total relaxation of mind. Even your mobiles don't work here. Staff is also very polite as it is family managed property. They do take care of guest as their relatives. Jungle beauty and climate will mesmerize you. Rooms are buit in cottage style and food was pureveg home cooked superb.

Had my reservations when we first arrived as accommodation more basic than we had been used to but soon disappeared when tea and coffee arrived. Sat outside the room overlooking the mountains in the sunshine was so peaceful. A very rural area where we could walk to our hearts content, watching the monkeys with their mischief. We sat outside a little shop selling everything and had a cup of coffee while watching a family cooking chapattis on an open fire, chasing away the monkeys, chatting and completely oblivious to our watching them. Birdwatching is brilliant but we did have a guide. Food was very good and at night someone came with logs and lit a huge fire in the grate and we went to bed and sat watching the flames and the room was so warm. Wished we had stayed longer and we would definitely go back.

I absolutely loved my trip here! It is so rustic and remote. You really get to escape from the city and enjoy some time with nature. You can do some trekking if you want. The service was very good.

I stayed in a room with a fire place and it was such a treat! There is no heat in the rooms and you are up high in the hills so bring plenty of warm clothes!

This site is 15 kms from central Nainital and has an excellent view. It was surprising that the tariff did not include tea/coffee and breakfast when this is the practice all over the world. The staff is very good and the food was excellent.

Room Tip: The family rooms are big. The other rooms are small with no furniture except the bed.
