The view from the lighthouse is breathtaking. There is a concrete lighthouse and a skeletal tower which are a short walk from the carpark. It's located in a weapons range so there is a security checkpoint before entering the range, but entry is free. It's about a 9km drive from the entrance. The road is unsealed and is extremely poor to drive on. The trip was really bumpy and we were very relieved when we finally arrived at the lighthouse. Other than that, the lighthouse is a great attraction to visit.

A little bit of a walk to the lighthouse from the parking area but it is just a great spot to be,. On the day that we strolled to the point you could see the whales in their annual migration up the coast of NSW to Qld.
Just magical.

We have been to Point Perpendicular Lighthouse twice before. I am pleased to see that they now have fencing around cliff edge - something they didn't have before (being 12 years ago). The road in is awful - I mean it's fine to drive on, but it's unsealed and corrugated - given the tourism in the area I am surprised at this. I also wish they would open up the lighthouse regularly - rather than once a year. The signs are informative. Also note that they only let in a certain number of cars overall. Whilst entry is free, you may need to wait at the boom gate until one car leaves; and then the next one can enter. This is a bit frustrating, but I can see why they do it given the road and the small parking lot. We were there on a very gusty day - hang onto your hat! Views are great.

Check for open days/hours as the Point Perpendicular lighthouse can be closed during weapons firing days & total fire ban days. Ring 4448 3411 (ranger station) prior to arriving to safe guard disappointment if closed. It’s only a short (dirt road) from the entrance to the lighthouse. The views are spectacular, but can be very windy, as the location is exposed to the ocean winds. Once inside the park, you can drive to Honeymoon Bay (camp sites) & walk around to Silica Cove & Target beach. There is a fascinating wreck at Silica Cove to see
