The Old Stables
Ranked #1 of 1 Woburn Sands B&B and Inns
Reviewed February 9, 2014

This is one of the best places I have ever stayed at. Julie the owner, was super and I felt very welcome. Spent one night in a single room. Bed was much larger than single size. The room was lovely and warm (important in January) and the radiator could be adjusted easily. Large ensuite shower room. Overall - more than ideal for one person. The breakfast was excellent, served as a buffet just like a larger hotel, the breakfast room also has a TV and sofas. Outside there's lots of space for parking. The property is several hundred yards down a private lane and is therefore really peaceful (with reference to one of the other reviews, Julie said the lane is due to have the holes repaired soon). I do not hesitate in recommending the The Old Stables.

Pretty countryside in a working farm. Lots of horses neighing, owls hooting and distant trains choo-chooing give the area real atmosphere. Good business and WiFi facilities. Friendly customer service with a can-do attitude from the owner. Decent pricing. Easy access by car or taxi to beautiful Woburn or shopaholic MK. Highly recommended. Five stars.

This place was lovely! Quiet place and out in the countryside. Only 5 minute drive to the OU. Julie was great. There was a small communal fridge for guests. Room was super clean. Little tv, although it couldn't get signal. No bath but the shower was decent. Had a lovely quiet night sleep and the breakfast was amazing. Julie even cooked me veggie sausages! On the whole a great night stay and I'll be back again :).

Stayed for 3 nights on a business trip having booked at short notice. This really is an excellent B&B and one I'd be happy to recommend.

Location wise it's very peaceful with it's countryside setting, but still just a few minutes drive from Milton Keynes. The room I had was very warm and cosy, which was great to come back to after work. Overall it was clean and the shower was better than many I've had in hotels. A nice touch was the pack of biscuits and bottle of water left with the tea making items every day. Free wifi was also available in the room and was actually a good speed too.

The breakfast was also excellent. Julie promptly serves you with tea or coffee after you walk in. There is a nice selection of fresh croissants, fruit salad, yoghurts, along with the buffet cooked breakfast, all of which were very tasty. There is also a TV in the breakfast room to allow you to enjoy some morning news as you would at home.

The only complaint I would have related to the side road leading down to the B&B. This road really is absolutely littered with potholes, if you're driving a 4x4 it'd be fine, however anything else and you must drive very carefully.

Overall I really enjoyed my stay here, lovely place, great value and well worth considering if visiting the area.

Thoroughly lovely stay at The Old Stables. Julie couldn't be more helpful. Comfortable bed, the room was very clean, good facilities and very reasonably priced. Good breakfast and lovely quiet location.

The bottom line of any accommodation is that you get a comfortable bed, plenty of hot water and a decent breakfast. And this you get at The Old Stables - then much more.

This is as much like a hotel as you are likely to get whilst remaining a B&B. Julie is a very friendly host and has equipped her accommodation to a standard you might expect only in a good quality hotel than in a lowly B&B. For a lowly B&B this is not.

A very friendly greeting came with a good personal recommendation for where to have dinner that evening. We were shown the small kitchen with fridge, microwave, crockery and cutlery and so on and the visitor's lounge. Then to our room with a tea and coffee tray which would shame many more expensive hotels, and lots of little touches that aren't strictly necessary but lovely to have. Such as cotton buds and balls in the bathroom, soap in both a dispenser and bar form, a small bottle of complimentary mineral water, pack of cookies, multichannel TV not just the basics and so on; it all adds up to that bit of extra comfort.

The room was spotless, the bed was comfortable and the electric shower one of the best I've ever used of that type.

There were a couple of oddities. The biggest surprise was the plain glass in the bathroom windows. We were on the ground floor which meant you had to lower the window blind day and night and put on the light or folk passing outside your room would have been able to wave to you when you maybe least wanted to be on public view. And the other, also bathroom based, was the rather noisy plumbing - only water rushing through the pipes but a little strange until you got used to it.

But both of these quirks could be dismissed when you saw the spread available for breakfast. Only available until 8.30am (so no lie in in the mornings!) but an impressive variety of cereals, fresh fruit and yoghurt but an impressive help-yourself full English with all the trimmings (except black pudding!), real coffee, oceans of milk and seemingly unlimited brown and white toast. Very impressive and a good start to the day.

Not only have I no qualms about recommending you to stay there - we will be doing so again next time we are in the area.

Really enjoyed staying at the Old stables while traveling to MK on business and stayed over a 6 month period. Julie is a friendly and flexible host. The rooms are clean and nicely decorated - I particularly liked being able to make my own tea in the breakfast kitchen and eat at a proper table in front of the telly!
