StoneyAcre ticked every box! Spacious accommodation for a family reunion with large rooms and two bathrooms. Beautiful garden for sitting out in the sun. lots of games in sideboard for rainy day or quiet evening plus large folder of DVDs including a good selection for children. Wi-fi means you can use computer and mobile which is not always possible locally when out and about. The immediate surroundings are very quiet and views are breath taking. There is a stream close by used for gorge walking by the adventurous and footpaths to Causey Pike are within a few minutes walk. There is a handy bench in the entrance hall to put on/take off boots and a large tumble drier to air damp outerwear so ideal for hill walkers in poorer weather. Only niggle is the narrow access road from Braithwaite. there are passing places but other drivers not always keen to slow down and show a bit of courtesy. Route to Portinscale via Swinside Inn (visible from house) has one VERY sharp hairpin bend but longer cars can continue 1/2 mile or so towards Buttermere to turn in large passing area and resume route.
Recommend the Wildlife Park nr Bassenthwaite for family but you can easily spend your time in and around property enjoying the luxury of the peace and calm of the Newlands Valley .

Awesome! We love this place. Amazing views from apartment and great adventures from the front door! The apartment was comfortable and well equipped. David (the owner) couldn't have been more helpful. We would thouroughly recommend to anyone who enjoys the peace and quiet of the Newlands Valley.

“Everything we dreamed how a vacation should be experienced”

Fantastic accommodations for 5 adults. Early morning tea and evening dinner views put you at peace. Out the door and hike within minutes or travel within an hour to any trail imaginable. David was a great host and provided much info for trails. There is so much to see. Davids upkeep of property and gardens provides beauty you hate to leave. Bring your cameras because every where you look a picture is waiting for your travel log. We stayed 3 nights and next time we will make it 2 weeks. Don't miss out on this gem. Thank you again David for a GREAT stay.

“Simply Idyllic.”

StoneyAcre is a lovely and very spacious apartment set in a beautiful secluded location with panoramic views all around.
I loved the layout of the apartment. The living room and kitchen are a good size. Plenty of room for six adults.
There are numerous beautiful walks in the area and Keswick is only minutes away where you can visit some lovely shops and there are supermarkets if you need to stock up. StoneyAcre is the ideal location for visiting the attractions of the Lake District.
We were made very welcome at StoneyAcre and would very much like to visit again.

“What a great place to stay!”
Reviewed October 5, 2015 for a stay in October 2015

Luckily for us, we were able to appreciate the stunning views every morning as the sun shone with unfailing regularity. This made it wonderful to sit out in the sun drinking a morning coffee admiring the beautiful gardens and the distant views of the Lake District hills before setting off to climb some, and what a location this is in to allow access to numerous super fells. The accommodation itself is, as had been pointed out in the other reviews, spacious, comfortable and clean. The beds help to provide a good night’s sleep. The kitchen facilities are excellent – so delicious meals can be created without any problems as there is also plenty of space to work in. The lounge is enormous and well furnished with the added delight of many games in the sideboard. The bathrooms allow for great baths and showers at the end of a day in the hills.
StoneyAcre is only a short distance from Keswick which means that it is an ideal base for visiting Keswick and its great Theatre by the Lake.
This was a great place for a quiet celebration when the rest of the family joined us at the weekend.
