We stayed at Kate's Farm a few weeks back and really loved it. The house itself is unique and very comfortable (great beds!), the breakfasts are delicious, the surroundings charming and peaceful, and most importantly Kate is knowledgeable and extremely helpful. My son (7 YO) loved the grounds, the chickens, and the large nature reserve just across the street. I can't say enough about how well this lodging worked out for us - Kate greeted us with a glass of wine, got us oriented to the area, and helped us out a great deal when one of our traveling companions became ill. If we ever return to the area we'll definitely stay here again.

What a brilliant, welcoming and homely B&B. Highly recommend staying at Kate's Farm, it is one of the best family B&Bs I have stayed with. The farmhouse if fully of character and our 4 year old loved the huge fireplace, complete with child friendly 'nook'. He also enjoyed feeding the chickens and collecting the eggs and the generous breakfasts. The sun came out and we could sit in the garden - I was very reluctant to leave! Beds, bathroom and generally all the accommodation very good and of high standard.

A truly welcoming stay. A listed farmhouse with a huge inglenook. We had the garden room which I thought had adequate space for us, as it was only used for sleeping did not expect a premier inn sized room. Other bedrooms also of good size, Shower room clean and toilet and wash basin in large room attached. Come and go as you please. Breakfast very good. Garden outside with fishing available in five lakes to side of house. Definitely stay here again.

Room Tip: Any of the rooms are good to sleep in as this is a listed building. The garden room is downstairs a...

Truly a lovely place and it is hard to imagine more welcoming hosts. We had the garden room which was clean and summery. We were lucky enough to get a pleasant evening and sit enjoying the lovely garden, right outside our room. Great shower and good value for money. Yes, the room is a little small but it is a listed building! Great breakfast.

Room Tip: Garden room is the most accessible for anyone with limited mobility.

Kate made us very welcome and Musbury is certainly a lovely spot. Unfortunately we had the garden room which was painted dark brown, the walls in the shower room were covered in fungi, the toilet had not been cleaned in the bathroom and everywhere looked as if it could have done with a good clean. The room was very small and cramped and yet we paid the same rate as everyone else. The breakfast was good and it is certainly in a good spot.

Room Tip: The rooms upstairs are possibly much bigger

, Owner at Kate's Farm Bed & Breakfast, responded to this review, July 16, 2012
This guest had enquired about accommodation for herself and grown up daughter. At the time of her enquiry I had suggested the large ensuite family room for £80 as they could have separate beds but she said they were on a budget and would take the garden room for £75 and share a bed. These prices include a full breakfast. My spacious guest lounge is next door so guests do not have to stay in their room.
The bedroom area is quite small but my garden room includes 4 separate areas, including separate loo and basin area, separate shower room, separate hanging space totalling over 18 x 10ft.
Her first criticism is the bedroom walls were dark brown. Sorry, I cannot agree with that. The room is shown on my website ( www.katesfarm.co.uk ) and the walls are neutral , it said sandstone on the tin.
The walls in the shower room do NOT have any fungi. The toilet HAD been cleaned.
I hope future guests will feel reassured that this room is clean and comfortable, and I wish this guest had raised her concerns with me at the time.

Charming building with great character, walk in open fire place, very homely vibe. Kate & Ed made our trip to Devon very easy. We traveled with our 9month daughter, and the little extras were beyond nice. Little toys for baby to play with, cot bed supplied, baby cutlery and bowls, use of bath (not part of our room package) for baby. Just so nice, restful, and a great sense of calm to be had. Thank you both for the wonderful warm welcome, chats, hospitality and for making it a lovely stay.

We stayed at Kate's farm as part of a road-trip of the south coast. We chose it as it is conveniently located for the River Cottage Canteen. The B&B is in a beautiful, very peaceful setting. Kate was very friendly and welcoming. She has a very dry sense of humour which we found endearing. She served us tea and biscuits in the garden when we arrived and very helpfully organised a taxi for us into Axminster. She even offered to collect us after our meal which we thought was kind. Great breakfast, particularly the lovely eggs, organic porridge and wide range of preserves. We'll stay again if returning to either of the River cottage restaurants
