A Maltese gentleman had told us the story of the Grand Maitre wines at Marsovin. After having some of the other Marsovin wines at a restaurant I called and asked if we could come by- they were fully booked but said we could 'stop by and have a look around'. Giselle welcomed us warmly, and then preceded to give us her lunch hour telling us about the winery, the vineyards, showing us the cave with the processing equipment, offering us a taste of this and that (loved the Marnisi)- sharing her enthusiasm and love for the winery, the family behind it, and of course the wine. Naturally we left with more than our weight limit, including a beautiful bottle of the current Grand Maitre. She is such a wonderful ambassador for Marsovin and for Malta and although off the beaten track the visit was one of the high points of our trip.
