Nice atmosphere. Good food. Waiter impatient with our lack of French. Seems popular with the French as it was full.

“What A Little Find”
Reviewed June 4, 2013

After an afternoon at Monets Gardens we were delighted to find this elegant restaurant in the village of Gasny. A very warm welcome from the owner followed by the best lobster salad I have had in years. The fixed menu price was very reasonable and the food exceptional quality also our recommended wine was superb. Lucky locals, wouldn´t hesitate to recommend if you are travelling in the area.

“Fantastic value for money”
Reviewed May 20, 2013

We had a superb meal here. The service was impeccable. The food imaginative and perfectly cooked as well as beautifully presented. My 90 Year old mother did not want a full main meal, so the chef specially prepared a slightly larger starter for her. The meal started with a wonderful amuse-bouche , which was a micro gaspacho, it was a small portion packed with wonderful flavours. The lamb I chose was tender and succulent and cooked just how I had requested - pinkish but not bleeding.

A great place in asmall out of the way place - but very close to Giverney where the Monet garden is located.. Try this restaurant if you can - but do book at busy times !

“A little humor helps”
Reviewed April 12, 2013 via mobile

Just read about the visitor who felt he was treated as an outsider. Well I went to this restaurant and we were treated with warmth and good humor. It's a paradox isn't it - visitors like to be surrounded by locals as they feel the cuisine will be directed towards repeat visitors but they resent it if they are not treated like old friends. We were made very welcome by the maitre d' who was happy to accommodate my desire to speak only passable French but to speak English to my less than fluent partner. Waiter was helpful and polite.

Food was excellent - pan fried scallops cooked perfectly with interesting side salad and riz de veau and sea bass main courses. Wine was good quality and not overpriced.

The restaurant was nealy full and we were the only foreign visitors. In comparing prices it's worth noting that now, in France, service is included in the price.

“Fine dining in Normande without the warmth”
Reviewed October 2, 2012

Recommended and prebooked by our hotel we liked the look of the Aubergeand the menu . On arrival we felt that although we were greeted we were intruding on a local watering hole. This became more apparent when even though the room had few diners we were given the double just inside the door; the other tables were laid for threes and fours, yet when local couples arrived unbooked the surplus places were cleared and they were given the much better seating, I suppose that it was considered that we were 'passing ships'; they have not noted the power of Trip Advisor!
The food was perfect. from the interesting 'amuses bouches' through to the entres to one of the best steaks my wife, Sylvia, has evre had. Service was at arms length. The wine was expensive (the most we paid in 4 nights of good dinning) and not particularly notable.
As visiting Brits we did not recieve an 'entente cordiale'.Pity as the cuisine was very good.
