“Good food, charming hosts, great location”
Reviewed September 15, 2010

Visited with friends, have previously been for lunch on a couple of occassions, the hostess/owner and her team are most welcoming to what is a lovely venue. The owner took her time to fully describe the menu in detail which was most helpful. The food was varied, seasonal, tasty and well cooked and presented. My only reservation was the portion size especially the pigeon salad starter which i did not think was good value at all given the size of the portion. Enjoyed the meal as a whole. The wine list was reasonable priced.

“Outstanding food in Spectacular Surroundings”
Reviewed August 27, 2010

My partner and myself ate here last weekend and were blown away by the standard of food that was served to us with a smile! It is most definitely a place we will both recommend to friends and family and feel lucky to have this restaurant so close to home. The price for dinner here is very reasonable for the quality of food and the views from the restaurant are simply stunning. We thoroughly enjoyed our 3 courses plus a cheese board to follow- which was made up of locally sourced cheeses. The restaurant staff are very friendly, nothing seems to be a problem and the chefs clearly take pleasure in creating such wonderful food. I really enjoyed the 'Gressingham Duck three ways' as a starter and my girlfriend chose the Quail with forest mushrooms, which I couldn't resist trying! Every component of each dish was mouthwatering and we would both love to have the team cook for us every evening....but we'll keep dreaming.

“High expectations and were not disappointed”
Reviewed July 11, 2010

This is a superb restaurant which also offers very comfortable accommodation, but it is their passion for food that lifts them above others. From the moment we entered 'The Cottage' we were made to feel very welcome .Elegant stylish and yet unpretentious, this is the perfect place for an overnight stay (or longer).
We cannot praise Kath, Liam and their team highly enough. The Cottage in the Wood is a real treat for foodies.
