“Wonderful food”
Reviewed November 2, 2012

A very welcoming restaurant with exceptional food. I would have liked a slightly cosier feel to the dining room/conservatory and the 4 courses we chose came a little too fast for me as I like to make the evening last. I wouldn't hesitate to go again however, perhaps for lunch next time so we can enjoy the wonderful views whilst eating.

“Absolutley excellent!”
Reviewed October 16, 2012

Had dinner here in early October with four friends, and a first class experience had by all. The menu's not vast, but the flavour combinations are endlessly fascinating and absolutely divine. Yes the portions don't look huge - but the food is quite rich, and so you leave feeling thoroughly satisfied. The price for this standard is very good - 3 courses for £36 - but it's the fantastic service, beautiful presentation and attention to detail that really takes your breath away. Here's an example: one person ordered a local ale as their pre-dinner aperitif, and was asked whether he's like it chilled or at room temperature! With themeal we ordered a couple of bottles of Rioja, which was far from expensive - but tasted superb (I'm sure whichever wine we ordered they'd all have been good!).

My only regret? We were there in the evening, so didn't get to see the spectacular views. Still, it's always a good excuse to go back again - although you won't need one!

“Get Here Before They Put Their Prices Way Up!”
Reviewed September 15, 2012

An amazing dining experience by local chefs & owners. Three courses for a very reasonable price, all carefully prepared and beautifully presented. Interesting and unusual ingredients and new takes on traditional dishes. Much thought given to the whole experience, making you feel very welcome and loathe to leave!
Add to that the lovely views ( when the weather clears!) and isolated spot, it is a must for all who visit Keswick.

“Very good let down by very small portions.”
Reviewed September 9, 2012

We did lunch. The venue is wonderfully set with views over Bassenthwate Lake and onto the Skiddaw mountain range, that said it is a little remote as the name suggests so dont expect to see anything after dark. There is nothing else within easy walking distance but If you are into star gazing this would be perfect on a clear nigh as there is very little light polution. Access to the venue is by one steap and winding country road and it can be difficult in wintery conditions so be mindful when booking. We were advised when we booked of some tempory road works so the staff are alert to this issue which I thought was excellent. The venue was spotless and elegant, on arrival we were met by the owner who was very friendly, attentive and helpful. The food was very good but followed the contempory fine dinning trend for extreamly small portions.
