“Basic but good food”
Reviewed June 30, 2013 via mobile

Dining room a little on the small size, on the night we dined there were a few crying kids, food basic but wholesome, my wife had the fish & chips which she enjoyed, I had the large Yorkshire pudding with braised beef the mashed potatoes were bland.

The dining room was half empty by 20:30 & not so noisy.

“A great local pub”
Reviewed June 29, 2013

We was lucky to have arrived just as they opened for dinner (6pm). Just as we sat down with a drink and a menu to look at there was lots of people piling in through the door with the same idea. A small pub with a good hearty menu. The food was hot and tasty.

“Caravan Holiday”
Reviewed June 13, 2013

we stayed at the Caravan site and on a rainy Tuesday night we headed for the pub, inside it was very busy, infact we got the last table and it was only just after 6pm.
Our 10 year old daughter enjoyed playing with the games that were provided in the pub, while I enjoyed a pint of very well kept Jennings ale, of which there were many varietys.
The menu had large and lighter choices and a good selection, the service was excellent despite being very busy the staff seemed to cope very well in keeping everyone fed and beered.
The meal was fantastic, olives and cheese withe bread for starter, cumberland sasage on mash for main, there was plenty for the two vergitarians in our party too.
We were so pleased with the meal that we returned again on our last evening, having beetroot salad started, and slow roasted belly pork on apple mash for main, wonderful pub, great atmosphere, excellent food and beer and good staff, can't recormened it more.

“good pub grub & excellent ale”
Reviewed June 2, 2013

Visited a couple of times during our week stay. Food is good home cooked pub grub portions huge but they do do portions for smaller appetite. Waitresses work so hard and are very friendly and helpful. In fact found all the staff very friendly and the ale very well kept. The fact thatyou needed to book to get a table speaks for itself!!
