We booked to stay a couple of nights in this pub/inn. We were arriving lateish and phoned to say - no problem at all, I said we would be needing food so a table was booked for us about half an hour after our ETA.

You had to walk into a busy pub to check in, everyone turns and stare as you stand at the bar with your cases waiting to be attended to.

Check in was easy, we were shown to the room - spotlessly clean with tea/coffee facilities and toiletries. Nice and warm with a very comfortable bed.

We ate dinner on the first night, some good Veggie options, food was plentiful, beautifully cooked and nicely presented. Great puddings too. Glad we booked though as the place was heaving.

The pub was full on both nights, it seems to be a very popular place.

Breakfast was nothing short of excellent, quality produce, freshly cooked and delivered steaming to the table.

Staff were all polite and very attentive.

Would definitely recommend.

Don't go during school holidays! The food is good, and home cooked, but you cannot get a seat without being squashed by large families whose children almost knock your drink over every time they move. Go at a quieter time to enjoy the food and ambience.

Not award winning food but good wholesome food, just right after a good walk. The portions were generous and the food generally pre-prepared microwavable, hence very quick service, but filled the gap. We ate there twice during our stay in Braithwaite. Bacon chops, pork belly and chips were very good, the yorkshire pudding was filled with really nice steak and ale filling but could have been warmer, the squash korma was pretty tasteless. Good, well kept beer. A few cheery faces behind the bar would have been nice!

Excellent food, delivered quickly with a smile. Reasonably priced. And the beer is good, too (Jennings). Well worth booking a table if you're visiting on a Friday or Saturday night as it's justifiably busy.
